The Pianist is such a kickass movie.

Maybe I was half awake when I watched it, but I found it pretty boring. It was just a guy hiding for 2 hrs.

Yes, it is a world class movie.

Thoes who don't like it probably live on a diet of stoner films, bad action flicks and cinemax porn.

Nope, try Kubrick films, or meaningful movies like fight club or shawshank redemption.

The Pianist is one of the few DVD's I actually watch from time to time.. such a powerful movie and well acted, but the nod still goes to Schindler's List as best Holocaust flick, Pianist is definately 1b. though.

Actually, no. I thought it was a horrible movie because the main character doesn't do anything, he doesn't want anything, he has no goals. He just hides and lets his family die.
Although it's beautifully shot, the story is neither profound nor interesting. I think many people are afraid to admit this because it's a Holocaust movie. Schindler's List is, in my opinion, 1000 times better.

As to the rest of your assumptions, I can pretty much guarantee I have a better film pedigree than you... 😉

i also like kubrick films, fight club, and shawshank redemption but you are smoking something possibly made from cocoa leafs in order to not appreciate the pianist.

So the pianist, a movie about the opression of jews in nazi germany, has no meaning? Right-o.
Shawshank redemption is of the same style that pianist is, a story of personal struggle, sacrifice and eventual victory.

Fight club the movie has very little meaningful content. To call fight club the moving "meaningful" is humorous.

Kubrick films are directly comparable with the pianist in story development and execution. Besides the 4-5 major flims that kubrick made, the rest are barely recognizable by the public. So name dropping "kubrick" means very little.

As to the rest of your assumptions, I can pretty much guarantee I have a better film pedigree than you...
A better film pedigree? Don't get ahead of yourself there captain.

If you want to compare holocost movies than "Life is Beautiful" is better than Shindlers list and The Pianist combined.

Thanks.

The Pianist was one of the worst and most boring movies I have ever seen.

I got tired of watching nazis oppressing jews after Schindler's List and Life is Beautiful. The story doesn't deviate too much from the formula

The only thing that's humorous is your failure to see any meaning in fight club. There are loads of philosophical messages in that movie. You probably saw the title and thought it was a movie about underground fighting clubs huh?
Yeah just keep fooling yourself with the empty and baseless arguments.

Empy and baseless arguments? No kiddo, I read the book so the movie had very little content in comparison. Hell, I read the book when you were still like barely 9 years old. Though I'm sure you fancy yourself a well read individual.

Did you even bother to read the book? No, don't answer that question, of course you're going to say you did. I'd ask you to tell me who wrote the book, but you could just google it and ruin the fun.

The movie doesn't even begin to hold a candle to the book. Sure it was a good movie, but 90% of the messages conveyed in the book could never have been brought forth in cinema format.

But I guess you're right, I only thought the movie was about some underground fighting club turned "terrorist" group with Brad Pitt looking super hot and Ed Norton playing the skinny badass. You got me, you're such a smart little college kiddie.

I enjoyed The Pianist.
The acting was great, and I could feel the suspense when I first watched it.

I think it's unfair to say the character only hid and didn't do anything, and therefore it was a bad movie. Because i think in reality, there were many people like that. They did what they could to survive, and many of them lost their families and couldn't do a single thing about it. Many of them hid in little holes and underground rooms for extended periods of time just to survive....

I thought the show really reflected the cruelties of war, and the insanity that the Nazis carried out.

So you guys can compare it to whatever you want, but the show in itself was a good show.

I also agree that Life is Beautiful is great, but I feel that it doesn't show the reality of life during the holocaust from the Jewish perspective.

Didn't know it was based on a book. Looks like I've got another thing to read.
