I think the easiest thing to say here is that if you make sweeping generalizations as to the morality of all the people in a party, then you're a fool.

I think it is easier to say if you trust anyone in any party then you are a fool.

I was referring to the voters as the 'people in a party'.

Cool.. voting is like playing the lottery.. we have 1:1,000,000 odds that a politician will keep their promises

I think it's pretty clear this guy needs to go away. He was aggressive and racially offensive toward that cameraman and doesn't belong in public service. Of course, he won't go away, which only makes the Republicans chances of retaining power that much dimmer.

I see the thread as an atempt to paint Allen as an overt racist. Additionally, many of the same people calling Allen a racist will use his screw up as a way to paint all republicans as racist, you can see it in this thread. Quote -All racist are republicans - Todd33

My point is that the Republican party is no more racist at its heart that the democratic party. Stupid mistakes by Joe Biden and Hillary point that out. As do the comments of Mayor Nagin, if you want to talk about outright racism lets start with him.

There are far to many important topics that we should be talking about besides whether Allen is a racist for his stupid comment.

That's why they taught a monkey how to switch votes from one side to the other and he was able to do it by himself after watching someone do it 3 times. Yeah, Diebold is the heart of goodness and purity when it comes to the U.S. voting system. Give me a break. Just because your family works for Diebold doesn't mean Diebold is a good company, it just means members of your family are lucky enough in today's economy to be collecting a paycheck.

In case you didn't notice unemployment in the country for July was 4.8%. Bill Clinton's July 1998 unemployment rate was 4.5%. So after 6 years in office Bush's unemployment rate is a whole .03% higher than Clinton's.

Yet people like you make statements that someone is "lucky" to have a job in today economy. By almost every standard the economy is about as good today as it was under Bill Clinton.

Hint: ProfJohn, unemployment rates are one of the most useless and twistable statistics of the state of the job market. There've been discussions about this way back, but the gist is: it doesn't cover every able-bodied person, only those 'actively looking' for work (whatever THAT means), and it doesn't cover the fact that a very large amount of people have to work two low-wage jobs just to be able to feed their family, or the fact that more Americans are working these types of jobs today than before.

So sure, Bush has made lots of jobs to cover his ass, but they are of the just-above minimum wage type, which goes to show you just how much he thinks of America when he says the job market is 'strong'. America has done, and can, do better.

I see your initial response to the thread an attempt to deflect from the issue at hand. You're free to start threads about topics you feel are important. Sniping from the sidelines with irrelevant information is one of the primary stumbling blocks of having a real political discussion forum. It creates a circus-like environment.
I also think there is evidence other than his "stupid comment" to support the idea that Allen is indeed a racist.

All I see is a fat rich white guy standing with a bunch of other fat rich white guys. Of course if there was one token black guy in the picture I would have assumed he was a Democrat.

No, all Republicans are not racist.
However, in the modern era, since 1929, there have been something like 86 black congressman, 3 of them Republicans.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Americans_in_the_United_States_Congress
And whenever there is a press conference or other public appearance of a large group of Republicans, they always put the few women or minorities front and center.
Does anyone remember the ridiculous convention where they focused the cameras on the one out of a thousand black delegates?

Will you please inform me as to the possibilities of rebuilding the Klan in the Realm of W. Va .... I hope that you will find it convenient to answer my letter in regards to future possibilities." ? Robert Byrd in letter to Klan Imperial Wizard Samuel Green of Atlanta, April 8, 1946.

In another letter Byrd wrote that he would never serve in the military "with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."

Wow a Democrat who was a racist... who'd have thought that could be possible.

Way to use some outdated quotes. I used to be a racist once two.

The one standard that has dropped alot is wealth distribution. Far more skewed today than 6 years ago. The Gini index (%of income of the top 20 - % income of the bottom 20%) has gone from the 35 area to the 45 area. The last 6 years have been called the greatest period of wealth transfer in human history.

How many times does he have to make the same "mistake" before it's clear that, regardless of his apologies, his most recent insertion of foot in mouth is just the latest example of his true beliefs?

The whole basis of this post is rather weak. Politicians by nature take TONS of pictures with just about anyone.

Are they supposed to do background checks on all people the pose with now? I do not know the background of this photo, but is there is any evidence to suggest that it was not some fund raiser or other political event and these guys walked up and asked for a picture?

I can post pictures of Bill Clinton and a member of the Chinese military, does that mean Bill supported his view?

How about this one :http://www.fiu.edu/~fcf/cabrera.hillary.large.html
It is Hillary Clinton and a convicted drug smuggler, so now Hillary is pro-illegal drugs?

And this one:http://sayanythingblog.com/2004/07/15/howard-dean-gay-porn-fan/
Howard Dean with a gay porn producer, so Howard Dean now supports gay porn?

And finally, this one:http://www.apfn.org/apfn/clinton_gore_rabinovich.jpg
Bill Clinton and Al Gore with an Ukranian mob boss. Just more "proof" of Clinton's ties to the criminal world...

Do you see how ridicules we can look when we take pictures of politicians and apply meaning to them?

The whole basis of your post is rather weak. Politicians may take TONS of pictures with "just about anyone," but when they willingly, voluntarily and continuously associate and identify themselves with groups of any particular viewpoint and speak in favor of their agenda, it's not unreasonable to believe them.

Somehow, I doubt you bothered to check Allen's long history of racist associations and remarks. :frown:

That white supremacist is so getting elected, all those hatemongering KKK wannabes are going to line up their votes for him, who probably make up 80% or more of the non-metropolitan areas in the US, especially southern US.

The point being---Byrd---and even George Wallace changed----can we say anything similar about the grace of Allen?

During the Civil War, it was the GOP that was liberal and the DEMS who were conservative. Things changed quite a bit. A lot of Senate GOPers now aren't that racist... they are just hateful, intolerant bastards. In fact, an awful lot of them hate gays... because they're intolerant and hateful. The repitition there was intentional.

You mean after 6 years and rasing the national debt trillions of dollars. Clinton had a budget surplus AND low employment.

DUHHH!!!!
