After months of searching, I have discovered what I consider to be the best guitar solo ever. It is truly an epic solo, spanning almost 5 minutes, and chock-full of blistering progressions, and several hand-offs to other guitarists (now all you guitar polayers are groaning and shaking your heads at this "false" solo, right? 😛). But regardless, it sounds incredible, and is exhausting even to listen to.
But ehat is surprising is that its not a person or group that one might expect. It is not Stevie Ray Vaughan, or Jimi Hndrix, or even Eric Johnson. Likewise, it isn't Yngwie Malmsteen, or Joe Satriani, or even John Petrucci. Its not even a metal band, which I am so fond of.

It is the solo from the song "Freebird" by Lynard Skynard.
Now if only I can learn to play that on my old beat up acoustic.
