The Perfect Dual Core Comparison

The perfect comparison of dual core chips would have the 4200, 4400, 4600, 4800 along with their single core Venice/San Diego counterparts 3500, 3700, 3800 and 4000. Let?s not forget the 820D, 830D, 840D and 840D EE and their single core counterparts 521, 531 and 541 with and without HT enabled. Let?s throw in the FX57 and the 670 for good measure.

Where can I find a site that has done this comparison?

Looking across the net for a patchwork of inconsistent configurations with only a few similar tests just doesn?t cut it. THG has the closest thing I?m looking for but it is out of date.

Any suggestions?

Forget about the THG test there was some weird stuff going on during the test like numbers and stuff being inconsistant and things of that nature.

I wouldn't trust tomshardware for a fair and equal CPU review.

I think the best thing you could do is piece together different reviews from teh same place that all use the same benchmarks. ie take the X2 review, the PD review, the single core reviews, and the FX-57 review and manually see what is fastest in a given benchmark that they all share.

CheesePoofs, I know that THG isn't the best place for an impartial CPU comparison. Heck even those charts, that I gave the links to, use different platforms to test the CPU's on. No consistency.

Oh well,
Nothings changed in the last 4 years. The review sites still change their testing methods enough so that an apples to apples comparison can?t be done. Maybe that?s how they keep their advertisers happy. When you want to upgrade, a guesstimate is still required to get the best system to do what you want.
I?ll let this thread die, just like I did this one: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...threadid=661349&enterthread=y&arctab=y
When I was trying to find out if the Athlon was showing diminishing returns after the 12X multiplier.
