I have only voted once and that was for the class proctor. This douche guy and his gang were sure that they would win. They chummed up to me and were like, hey, we know you will vote for us. You are our buddy! The other guy was nicer. So I voted for him and the gang couldn't believe it. They spent the afternoon trying to figure out who betrayed them. Totally did not suspect me 😀

Honestly, compared to all the taxes we pay such as carbon tax, the tariff is not that big a dent, obviously still bad as it still adds to the already high cost of living/operating but people are freaking out like it's the end of the world while they stayed silent at everything else. The carbon tax is basically a tariff on life and keeps going up each year. It affects individual cost of living as well as company operating costs making business more expensive, which trickles down back to us in the end. And Carbon Tax Carney (Trudeau's replacement starting this Sunday) wants to double down on it. He'll be fine though, he moved his company Brookfield to the states so he is spared of our carbon tax and Trump's tariffs.

Rumour has it an election is going to happen late April or early May, hopefully the conservatives get majority and we can axe the carbon tax which is one of the biggest tariffs we are dealing with right now as it affects everything that requires energy, which is well, basically everything. Trump is putting America first, I can't really fault him for that even though right now it's hurting us, so we need someone that can put Canada first, and that will be Poilievre.

I also did not realize this until recently, but we actually have trade barriers between provinces! It's actually harder to trade between provinces than with other countries including the states. Lots of weird restrictions especially surrounding energy. Poilievre will change this and it will help us be more self sufficient economically. Trade is good, but we should not rely on it 100%. Build pipelines, build refineries and drill baby drill! Makes no sense to put penalties on our own energy when we are actually a carbon sink. Let's use our own product first then export extra cleaner oil products to countries that are still burning coal and other dirty forms of energy. We should be a rich country, even without relying on the states.

Long story short lot of our issues are self inflicted, we need to look at ourseives before we blame the states. The tariffs are only insult to injury while we're already weak.
 
Local man who constantly complains about high cost of living and how he can barely get by says "actually this is fine".
