The Passion could net Gibson over 200 million

Just like with Lucas and the original Star Wars -- the studios passed on funding it, and missed their chance.

All those people who mocked Gibson during the production of it are feeling very stupid right now 😀

Indeed.

Hollywood didn't pass it up AFAIK just for money reasons. I don't think they wanted to be associated with it, due to imbred frivolity.

Hollywood, and most in it, should be swept from the map, just for fun.

Good. After all the crap that people have said about Gibson and his movie he deserves to get a fat chunk of change.

I would generally agree with you.

The financial cost of Passion was relatively small, but the PR risk was huge. The management of several of the major studios needs to be changed. They have become too risk averse in the last few years and made some generally poor choices.

All the best to him. He took a huge chance and bet his personal bankroll (and career probably) on this being a success. He deserves the reward.

It's doing so well because a majority of the North American population is Christian or some denomination of it. Thus many people jumped on the bandwagon and brought everyone they knew, children et. al just to see the movie simply because it had "Christ" in the title. I saw it, and it was well done, but not a masterpeice of a movie, far from it, but that's just me.

But it's good that against the odds he still proved his point and made a sucessful movie.

What would be cool is a movie about the Book of Revelation. It would be called The Blood Red Moon . Revelation is one of my favorite books of the Bible.

Buy you already know the hollywood types are puting together The Resurection.

The guys makes a make for drastically less than what it costs to produce most movies in Hollywood these days, then gets ENORMOUS amounts of free advertising due to controversey.. brilliant eh? Who thought it wouldn't make money? Come on..

They'll probably be thrown together and bastardized, just like Hollywood should be. Except replace bastardize with shot.

will he ever star in another big budget movie again..that's not funded by himself?

would producers and whatever...want to risk casting him and like..get flame from the "powers that be" in Hollywood?

Geez. I agree with scoorb.

Hollywood and it whining denizens suck. Mel makes great movies and I still like him even after I have heard him interviewed. Something I cant say for a lot of other actors.
