hmmm...I think Stefan's situation exemplifies typical Western Anglo-Saxan values (using fear to get results -i.e. get a full time job or go to school or move out the day you turn 18).

It's interesting to compare that value to Asian values (relying on honor/respect to get results -i.e. it is your duty to go to school -> in order to get a well paying job -> in order to support your parents in their elder years ). For Asians it would be almost sacreligous to kick your children out. I'm glad I'm Asian hehehehe. The Asian method worked for me...I'm 2 years out of college, and my parents can retire if they wanted to and I could easily support them.

Maybe that's why Anglo's have already gotten to the moon and have most of the wealth. 😉

is it sacreligous to whip and beat children?

I know there are Asian parents who beat their children. But my parents never beat me and I don't think I'd ever beat my futrure kids.

In my house,my 18 year olds can stay (for $200/mo. room and board)if they plan to further thier education. My daughter is doing that this year.I let them have the summer for free, but now is the time to grow up and take responsibilty.Paying bills is part of growing up.Once the kids leave, there is no return unless there is a dyre emergency.
I love my kids (all 7) very much, and with that leeson in life, they are all turning out very good.

I've been paying $400/month rent since I was 17. I also pay for my phone line & long distance, my ISP bill, & the majority of my food. Complete rip-off, as far as I'm concerned. One room. $400 a month.

🙁

A buddy of mine is getting cornholed the same way Viper is. He pays $400/month plus the cable bill, his own phone line bill, etc. But, he's 29 and needs go get his dumb ass outta the house.

Stefan, best of luck dude. I hope it works out. You and I share the same birthday, except I am 11 years older. 🙂

Also, my parents pulled the same thing when I was 18 and lived at home, because they didn't like my then-girlfriend. It blew up in their faces. I moved out and basically told them to pound sand. We made up two years later.
