The most striking thing was the Republicans, the disgusting bastards that hate this country.

Never in my lifetime have I've seen empty seats. Half the fuckers didn't even show up.

The ones that did show up just shock their heads saying NO the whole hour and ten minutes of the speech and of course never stood up.

Very sad

We are the Divided States of America

Just out of curiosity, did you also hate the disgusting bastards that hated this country sitting on the democratic side that weren't standing up and applauding anything during GWB's SotU speeches?

Sure. One of the main ways to let somebody know they are beneath you is to never look them in the eye and keep your eyes above theirs. Basically to look over them as if their opinion is below yours. The goal is to point your eyes about a foot above theirs.

This kind of body language will not intimidate the audience but make them feel like they should look to you for guidance.

The look straight into the eye can flag defensive mechanisms, but only if it's more than a few seconds. So the direct eye contact for a second or two shows trust as long as you look away. This is mutual trust and is taught in any speaking class and verified by experience. I'm almost 40, body language means more to me than what you say.

Body language says much more than words.

I hear dogs say the same thing. Stupid animals. Stupid is as stupid does. They never listen to a damn word, just bite you out of stupid fear. That pretty sums you up right there.

Well another state of Union speech come and gone. Rah Rah Rah.

Pretty pathetic in MHO. But for truly pathetic, the GOP response was far worse.

In an era where we must adapt or die, gridlock frustrates any hope of adapting.

Gridlock?

I guess you are just trying to be inflammatory.

This is Government's time to shine.

There is hardly any opposition.

Obama didn't lay out that quote, pay attention hack.

Yes they are, along with many many more corporations, but not the people

Thanks for being cordial.

He's a one line fucktard troll. If you don't piss and moan about how your white guy rights are being eroded, you're a lefty in his book.

I know you're busy trying to berate Obama for ignoring "us," but he was addressing Congress, not the citizens of the US. This was mentioned by the Speaker of the House when President Obama was introduced. Everyone knows this.

Might want to pay attention next time.

Bullshit. He's pandering to his masses and continuing to try to convince the world that he actually intends to do anything other than bleed the middle class dry.

Anyone have a list of lobbyists in the Obama administration?
(this is the only one I could find)

For someone who wants to get ride of lobbyists, he sure employes quite a few.

Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed].

Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.

William Lynn, deputy defense secretary nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive.

William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.

David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.

Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.

Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.

Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.

Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership
Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.

Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.

Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president’s assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005.

How about prosecuting voter intimidation?

LOL Still running with this? It was refreshing to see Fox back track out of that much more quickly than the Ashley Todd BS. Took all of an hour before that got buried. At least they learned their lesson. Good old Fox.

Amazing, with the GOP response he's actually looking into the camera.

Personally I thought McDonnell's facial expression and body language were terrible. He didn't say anything particularly interesting either. As for the SOTU, I need to watch the first half tomorrow as I was in class for it. I was surprised that I didn't hear the "state of our union is strong." line that I think I've heard every other time I've watched.
