I started in tech support.
some days lunch was a candy bar and a can of coke because it was so busy.
that eating light and eating on the run carried over for decades.

I am no longer in that fast paced lifestyle.
I slowed down and am actually tasting foods instead of wolfing it down.
Plus trying out new foods.

Much to the chagrin of my waist line. :(
Age also probably has something to do with that... slowing metabolism

The last few years have been hard on me cause I stopped being active, but continued to eat like I was.

I think it's finally getting warm so I'm going to get active again. I walked at lunch today and am going to see about blocking my schedule during lunch time so people can't fill in that time with meetings.

sounds like you need to check out the Instant Pot thread and my Meals During the Crisis thread for meal ideas.

My company's main tech guy, has high blood pressure and a waist that just keeps on increasing. Yesterday, he was complaining about his zipper not closing easily. I've told him several times. Cut back on your eating. Skipping a meal or eating something light for dinner isn't going to destroy you or harm you permanently. Few weeks back, his blood pressure shot to 220 on eating pizza from Pizza Hut. His excuse is that high blood pressure runs in his family.

It's not possible to help these people if they refuse to help themselves. Yesterday, my pants were feeling pretty tight. Last night, I jogged in place for several minutes until my feet started to ache a bit. I also did a fair number of squats at least three different times. Today, I was surprised to see that I could hook my pants much more easily. So the exercise may not have burned off a lot of calories during the act of doing it but it revved up my metabolism enough to force it to go into overdrive, burning more calories than usual even during my sleep.

220?! Holy crap, that's a hypertensive crisis! He has to go to the hospital for that!!
He went to the pharmacy in the adjacent building. They probably crapped their pants when they saw his blood pressure that high. He's gonna end up popping some tiny but critical blood vessel. I've tried my best to convince him to take corrective action but he will shrug off my concern by saying, "I'll start walking more tomorrow". It's a complete lie. He's a workaholic. Barely gets any good long enough restful sleep and then complains of headaches. He can't be helped.

Trying new foods is one of my favourite things the older i get , i will say i hate the food in the town i'm from for the most part as it's almost all sysco (or similar companies) sourced junk

One of my big lifesavers has been Soylent (liquid meal replacement drink). I lived off vending machines & fast-food for awhile. Soylent has the odd effect of making muggle food taste better, haha!

- I realized that If I wanted to keep eating what I like to eat, I had to cut down somewhere else.

Milk Coffee for Breakfast and a 300 Cal protein bar (Think brand) for lunch lets me enjoy dinner fully, which is the meal of the day I really love.

Unfortunately my wife doesn't have the same philosophy and she's recently started a diet, so I predict I will lose more weight from this point out thanks to all the lean meat and veggies that constitute dinner at this point.

I walked 6 miles yesterday and none today to rest my feet.

I drink black coffee since it has no calories. I do 1/2c of oats mixed with 1 cup of water....nuke. Add a tablespoon of peanut butter and a banana.... it's like 430 calories and has protein/carbs.

If you walk an hour, that's about net 0 calories until lunch.

Lunch and Dinner and Snacks and alcohol are my problem. Why did God have to invent margaritas and tacos?

dont use margarita mix. it's just sugar.
2 parts tequila, 1 part triple sec, 1 part lime juice
so 2shots/1shot/1shot = 6 oz of deliciousness

I think the older I get, the more I miss my parents cooking. Both parents cooked different things well, but I absolutely cannot replicate it. And my parents don't measure crap so everything's eyeballing. Just never comes out the same. But I def do like trying new things.

I decided to ditch the tortilla and just eat my taco from a bowl, since the tortilla was mostly there to hold everything together.

He who does not work shall not eat. (In the end, and ketoacidosis, heart attacks are some of the punishment).

Insulin stimulation is the instance of yang principle being accurately. descriptive. And starches lets it out from the pancreas.

Older I've gotten has equaled to less concern about food or how it tastes, esp. the taste. But I suffer from ulcerative colitis and to me, food is just something to ingest for fuel, not much more. Taste, meh.....
