Well this is...odd. I thought it was a typo in the article title at first...A 500GB Xbox 360 w/ 2 free games is coming out next month. trying to get rid of old stock? Seems like an odd move.

It's actually a new console. It's blue in color, and you're probably right that it's just about clearing the old CoD stock.

Can't pick Destiny with that promo as far as I know.

"*Offer valid September 7-September 13, 2014 at participating retailers with purchase of Xbox One, Xbox One with Kinect, Xbox One Madden NFL 15 bundle, or Xbox One Forza Motorsport 5 bundle. Free game must be a new, disc-based game for Xbox One, maximum retail value $59.99. Not valid for pre-order games. Limit one free game per eligible Xbox One purchase. Cannot be combined with other offers. Refurbished consoles or used games not included. See your local retailer for details."

Destiny is out before the promo expires, so it will be allowed.

Even better is Best Buy is offering two years of gamer's club unlocked when you purchase the madden bundle and choose a free game ($399). Gamers club unlocked costs $120 normally and you get 20% off all new games while you have a membership.

Best Buy also lets you buy now and you can get destiny at release for free. The MS store deal makes you pick the game at checkout.

Damn, great deal. I just got home from Microsoft Store with my new One. Traded in the first 360 I ever had, tiny 20GB HD, controller with our battery pack lol, for $100 towards the One. I'm not much of a BB shopper but 20% off all new games is great.

In addition to the 20% off you get 10% extra when you trade in games there, 2 extra points for every dollar when you trade in games and 2x base points on games, accessories, & digital content. The points are redeemable for rewards certificates (basically coupons) and can be used on anything you buy at the store not just games. You can stack the deals so in theory you can use reward certificates and your 20% off and get a game for less than $20 on day one.

Destiny? Let me put it this way. I spent a combined 30 hours between the alpha and beta in what is only about 10% of the total game content. I'd say that's pretty telling as to how much I like playing it.

I love the public events that randomly show up, the loot and items you find, the character specs you can upgrade and switch between, the eploring, the raids and missions. Multiplayer vs mode is nice too even though the beta only had 2 vs maps.

The whole community in the tower is neat too. You can pick up challenges there and purchase and refine weapons. The game has a ton of free roam missions on each map and you can basically choose anywhere you want to go. Not to mention the beta and alpha was only one planet. The full game has about 4 or 5 planets and a moon or two.

The game is going to always be evolving and receiving updates. In fact Bungie just announced a patch to adjust the classes a bit and a few tweaks to other things in the game. They have a full log of the changes at their website.

Personally, I couldn't convince myself to get it. The quantity of abilities was the only part that truly felt like an MMO to me. The story didn't really interest me, IDK what was going on. The gunplay itself was OK, but unblanaced, and PvP made that abundantly clear. The quests in the beta also felt really redundant, possibly even more so than in WoW. More-importantly, the landscape was uninspiring; it felt really small and bland. WoW did a good job of making me feel like the world was big, while Destiny makes it feel small. Even Defiance made its cramped world feel bigger than it was (though the terrain was bland and repeated quite a lot).

Granted, that's the opinion of someone who only played the beta up to level 6. Honestly, I just couldn't convince myself to do anything else. The PvP felt terrible, while the PvE just bored me, from a storytelling standpoint.

Well, there were only 5 story missions in the beta and they are starter missions. Remember in Halo and many other games you don't know what's going on for several hours so as far as the story goes, nobody knows anything yet really.

Agreed, but Halo at least put you in a position where you felt like you were doing something. I guess that with an MMO, the FPS tasks are a bit more annoying. Halo had you going to a new environment every hour or two, fighting towards something. Destiny had you traversing the same landscape every time, running back and forth to an objective that didn't really feel like progression. That's just how it felt to me, but like I said, I come from the perspective of WoW as the only MMO I've played in recent years (played Runescape a LONG time ago).

I'm sure the game opens up some, and the expansions add a decent amount of content, it just didn't interest me. I liked the feeling of scale in WoW, going through a bunch of zones and having a bunch of encounters to go with your questing, but Destiny just felt a lot more stale and redundant, for some reason.

That was because the beta only had one location.

Still debating picking up Madden bundle + Destiny... I just don't really care to have the Madden bundle even though I can sell the game. Tempted to wait for a Halo bundle which I might actually like.
