Did anyone get the GEARS Ultimate beta invite? I got a code, downloaded the beta, but it say I don't have access. Has this started?

Also, if anyone has an invite to he XB1 Preview, I would like one as well.

The Gears Beta started yesterday. You need 2 codes, A download code and an access code. You will receive them separately. There was a blurb about issues on the Gears website that I'm having trouble finding at the moment.

Anyone knows when the new console comes out? I checked some shops and it's not showing yet... Only the 500gb model is showing and the limited edition Call of Duty 1tb... I thought it was supposed to be released on the 16th? So today...

Amazon says out of stock, Gamestop in North America is shipping now.

Maybe it depends on your region? I dunno.
 
Elite Dangerous Early Access is up now, 30 bucks if you buy. It only lets you play an hour, doesnt seem like enough time to learn the basics
 
Well 30 gets you the game, you can download a trial for free which only lasts an hour. It is still pretty lame, paying for a work in progress game that might or might not ever be complete
 
Yes, and many are great games. I still won't touch that concept because I find it just gross. The consumer takes all of the risk, really, while the developers can half-ass or go all-out and still get paid. There are intriguing games that are or were EA/GL that I would play, but I just don't like the business model and won't support it.

Perhaps, but Steam is giving refunds now, and if you buy physically with a console, you can AT LEAST trade it in and recoup nearly all of your money. There are more semi-acceptable resolutions to problems with game quality, in that regard.

That, and there's the massive trend of pre-order beta access with major releases now. So, while there are things we'll likely miss (such as campaign flaws in a FPS during a multiplayer beta), we're getting a free look at those games, in many instances.

Yeah, figured it out last night got to play a few matches. Feels like the old Gears 1, but in that Gears 3 TDM mode. Only got to play two matches. First match was brutal. I had to re learn how to play and control the character. Second match was much better. I'll play a bit more tonight. Pretty fun so far.

Not really a lot of early access games are a total mess. I haven't seen one fully released title that is as bad as some of those.

I don't know, man. Unity had some pretty horrific bugs, and Halo had problems galore with online play (it once kicked my friend and I from our co-op campaign, splitting us into two solo campaigns, and it took us a good while to figure out that it happened, rather than our chat conversation of us asking each other why the other was being so stupid). And don't forget Battlefield 4.
