BC is such a waste of time/resources. if you wanna play 360 games, play em on 360.

I sort of agree, but BC isn't a bad thing. I'd love to be able to play SF4 or Dark Souls 2 on my Xbox One. There are a very few reasons I have kept my last gen consoles, and I'd prefer to get rid of them.

its convenient for sure, but i don't think it's worth the payoff. they have to spend so much money just to get that kind of stuff to work, and i'd be willing to bet that the people it sways to purchase the console solely because of that feature is very very slim compared to how much money they wasted getting it working.

you already have an x1 so it obviously didn't sway your decision and won't matter to you either way since you already have it.

It might be more for people whose xbox breaks or they want to get a 2nd one. XB1 becomes a more appealing choice.

However, I agree. It doesn't seem BC is a wise investment.

It really only seems good at the start because the library's smaller. However, what I started to realize is that I only play one or two games at a time, so who cares if I only own 3 or 4 at first? I mean, I own about 40 games on my 360 (and that's just the disc ones, not counting the 15-20 digital ones from Games with Gold or the dozen or so XBLA titles), yet all I was playing before I got my One was Halo 4. Before that, I was only playing Black Ops II. Before that, it was one of those, with the occasional Borderlands 2 mixed in.

Where backwards compatibility would be useful is those whose friends are slow to adopt. I only got my One because I got it as a graduation gift, because I didn't want it enough (or have the money) to buy it right now, so I would have probably waited until the end of the year. That meant I'd never really get to play games with my friend who got a One. Now that I have a One, I can't play games with my cousin or brother-in-law online, as they're on the 360. Having backwards compatibility, and still being able to play Halo or Black Ops with them would be nice, but it's not the biggest deal. If they get the new Xbox, then we'll just play the new games, and the backwards compatibility becomes useless.

Really, it's a great starter idea, but after about a year, it's now a mostly-meaningless feature.

sure you can, play with them on your xbox 360.

I agree it really isn't worth it for the console makers, just that it is a nice feature for console owners. The money they have to spend to make it happen is generally not going to be made up.

I've read reports that MS was working on 360 emulation on the Xbox One, but they made it sound as if the architecture is what was holding it back, not the power.

They're all part of the same puzzle. Translating between ISAs just adds to the complexity/cost of the emulation. There's also the GPU commands. The X1 and PS4 are both based on GCN 1.0 (or 1.1, I can't remember). I can't seem to find any good information about the 360's Xenos's ISA, but it may be VLIW like the similar R600.

Honestly, if I were a betting man, I'd say that I bet that we'll never get full-on emulation. Depending on the way the games were written for the 360, it might be easier to just release X1-compatible 360 binaries. Essentially, you put the game in, and the X1 checks to see if there's a x86-based binary on Microsoft's server for it. If there isn't, you can't play the game.

damn i'm kind of tempted to pick up NFS at that price. i'm really dying for a new arcade racer in general, although i know not much about that game is new.

i THINK previous nfs games were locked at 30fps too and i always had fun with them. i think forza horizon was too but i'm not sure about that, i just don't remember. i just remember it didn't look very crisp or something, but it was a fun game.

nfs games are usually just fun though.

well i just snagged it, i'll let you know how it is.

just realized i can get free shoprunner too with my amex so got free 2day shipping with it (although normal shipping is free with this deal too).

I didn't enjoy Rivals as much as last year's Most Wanted. The graphics in Rivals are great but the open world is just driving on a track basically. I enjoyed the open city much more than the open world in Rivals.

Anyone on the fence, Fry's just dropped the XB1 to $450 with Titanfall and Forza 5. Effectively a $170 discount off the early adopter pricing.

These people...I get my One, Target adds a year of LIVE to its bundle the next day. Now, Fry's (granted, I'm nowhere near one) does this?

It works online, unlike the famous MC deals. The stores bought huge stacks of the TF bundle, but they sat there all this time (at least at the DFW locations), so this should help jumpstart interest I think.

Hah. Just thinking about how the kinect2 sells for $100, someone could buy this, sell off the kinect, and considering $60 game prices this comes to $230 for the console. A ps4 and two games costs $520. XB1 went from the worst value at $500/no game to best value $450/2 games ($350 if sell the camera).

damn i ordered nfs:rivals on friday at like 1:30pm est from newegg and it came today on a sunday. pretty quick shipment. havent had a chance to play it and probably won't tonight either.

Hmm... did my XBOX One just die on me? So, my Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH sometimes gets a bit wonky (as reviewers said and I ignored), and it sits right beside my XBOX One. When I went to pull the Ceton unit out to yank out its power cord, I hit the X1's power button. I went to turn it back off, but nothing happened. I switched my receiver to the X1, and the screen was black. I left it alone thinking that it might be updating or something. Well, fast forward to today, and I realized that it was still on... oops! :$ I read up that you should be able to hold down the power button for 10 seconds and turn it off, but that didn't work. Since I couldn't turn it off, I did the only logical thing... yanked that power cord too! 😛 Now, if I turn it on, it just illuminates, beeps, and turns off. :|

i had an issue like that Aikouka. i noticed that the light on my power supply was not the normal good color. so i unplugged it from the wall for like a minute, plugged it back in and then everything ended up working fine. not a clue why it happened though.

Ah, let me check that. I was going to move it to another TV just to make sure, but when I realized that I hid my power brick under the entertainment center, I got a bit too lazy. 😛 Let me get un-lazy and check it out!

EDIT:

No luck. It still fails to turn on after I moved it to another TV.

EDIT 2:

This is all I get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ3elhphBCQ

You've got a really sexy finger. :sneaky:

On a serious note, you may have power supply issue.

edit: and you win the award for the shortest youtube video ever 😀

Is this one of those "That's what she said!" moments? 😛

Hmm... I wondered if that could be the case. I don't know if it's any indication, but the power brick LED goes white when I plug it in and then goes amber. Unfortunately, I don't know what color it's supposed to be because it has always been hidden.

I also realized that I don't know anyone local to me that owns an XBOX One.

I thought I could have cut a second or two off the end there! 😉
