You want RPGs and you bought an Xbox? Lol.

Well, most of the mainstream games will probably see releases on the XBOX One, and by mainstream, I pretty much mean Square-Enix. He can also get any new and wonderful entries in the Fable series. Okay... it was rather hard to type that last one without laughing! :p

Now, if he said that he loves jRPGs, he'd probably be better off buying a PS4 regardless of the current outlook (since most are still being made for the PS3 at the moment). Most of the smaller (than Square-Enix) Japanese development houses will still probably focus on Sony since their main focus is Japan.

Oh god Fallout...I have 200+ hours in Fallout 3 and I'm still trying to track down a first print non platinum hits Fallout 3 New Vegas Ultimate locally. Finally found a mint Infinite Undiscovery with the gold leaf cover insert though.

Hmmm... Fallout 3. I played it for maybe 30 minutes, and really liked it. Life got in the way, and I never played it after that.

If I were to dive in again, should I do F3 or just New Vegas?

Both entirely different games. I'm fond of the first one myself.

The story in New Vegas is better, however, Fallout 3 isn't bad either. It isn't Fallout 2, which may or may not be a bad thing, depending on the person.

Fallout 3 also has Liberty Prime, which is the best character ever!

I put about 35hrs into FO3 before I beat it. I wanted to put more into it but decided I needed to move on (I prefer games 10hrs or less). I still consider replaying it even though I prefer complete and move on. I may just go back and expand my character, but I wouldn't mind going through and making different decisions.

FO:NV I instantly thought the game wasn't my style as soon as it started. I decided to give it some time and found a few things I liked about it. But ultimately I decided to quit giving it more time and quit about 15hrs in. I was waiting for the magic that was FO3 but it never came.

That's my opinion anyway.

I liked new Vegas but I felt the great unknown world when you first leave the vault in FO3 was more impactful for me. It seemed more open and vast for some reason.

My primary problem with New Vegas was that the environment felt like a theme park. In Fallout 3, it felt a lot less like "and on your left, you'll see a thriving city! Up next, on your right, is a pack of crazies!". The story of FO3 though was awful, NV had a much better story.

The desolate ambience and isolation in FO3 was amazing. Just wondering around and exploring ruins for hours and not encountering other people.

That was the best feeling in FO3, the expanse of unknown desolation was great. The first time walking out of the vault and saying "now what?" and picking a direction and going.

That to me was Fallout and the best part of that game. Unknown post-apocalyptic world with perils all over. I just wanted more interaction with the world in ways such as helping build a town or leaving a more substantial mark on the world.

Great game for its time though.

As someone who gets a bit bored in super open world games (anything from Bethesda really) this statement is kind of funny. "I walked around in a game for hours and didn't run into anything! It's amazing!"

When the game is a post apocalyptic, wasteland you shouldn't expect it to be teeming with life. Fallout did that very well. For some, it might be boring, but they can stick to playing CoD after watching Bad Boys 2!

I felt Fallout 3 was better than Skyrim. Just my personal opinion which I'm sure people are going to hate on. I easily got bored of Skyrim, enough to where I didn't even want to finish it. With Fallout 3, I had tons of fun with the NPC's and doing random stuff. The world just felt better to me than the tired ol' Dungeons and Dragons world that we've played countless times.

I still have the fallout game for ps3. I didn't play it much. I started it and it looked good. But as long as I know where to go and what to do I don't mind vast open areas.

The problem with Skyrim is that it was a mile wide and an inch thick. And that doesn't work in a fantasy style setting. You can't have a bunch of nothingness. In Fallout, the genre itself is helped by it being desolate. They spent their resources on making the few places you do find interesting.

Skyrim never kept my interest. It was so large at times I would get lost and forget what I was supposed to be doing. I would follow the compass and map and end up in an area that I had no idea, eventually I got tired of walking around.

I liked skyrim because I enjoyed the setting. Even if a lot of it was barren, I always seemed to find something to do. Pick herbs, hunt animals, random encounters.

Some of the random encounters were pretty stupid. Oh, highwayman in super expensive armor, please don't extort me for 15 gold! Noooo!

I know, it was meant ot be more of a joke than anything. I still find it funny.

Walking around and seeing a farm house or a turned over semi or something in the distance hoping you'll find a box of ammo or two or if you're lucky a slightly better weapon, hoping you don't get jumped. Yeah its fun.

I agree though. I can't stand Oblivion or Skyrim. Its just something about Fallout 3 that's different.

Stopping to explore a long forgotten radio tower or nukacola plant on the way to a story waypoint and discovering remnants of a long fallen community's last stand and finding stashes of goodies hidden in a mailbox or something. Seeing the skeletons, reading the notes left behind and reconstructing and reliving what happened so long ago. Dunno , it just does it for me.

I like about half of the CoD games, have no idea if I like or care about Bad Boys (either movie), but I liked Fallout 3 a LOT. We don't all fit in your bro box, bro.

Pack rats. Skyrim is a blessing and a curse for pack rats. I spent WAY too much time making sure I didn't leave 3 gold in the last room of the 500th cave, haha.

In general, for this discussion:

Pre-Oblivion: Never touched
Oblivion: Hated
Skyrim: Liked

Pre-Fallout 3: Never touched
Fallout 3: Loved
New Vegas: Watched a bit, will play when I see the next suitable Ultimate Edition Steam sale.

You want RPGs and you bought an Xbox? Lol.

FFXI, FFXIII, FFXIII-2, FFXIII-Lightning Returns, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, The Witcher 2, MagnaCarta 2, Fable II and III, Blue Dragon, Resonance of Fate, Culdcept Saga, Diablo III, Oblivion, Skyrim, Mass Effect 1-3, Dragon Age 1-2, etc. not enough for you? A lot of those are also exclusive. And that's before diving into the Arcade and stellar indie RPG's.

That was a pretty ignorant comment. They may not be the majority of titles or what the majority of people are playing, but they exist and are not hard to find at all.

Granted, there isn't much for the One right now as far as RPG's go, but the Witcher 3 will be available for it in the near future, as well as the next ME and DA entries. There will be plenty of options for RPG fans on the One.
