I think those points are REALLY hard to compare to the PS4, though.

Forza: Nothing's on the PS4 to compete right now, and Driveclub has no release date.
CoD: Even if you dislike it (and I dislike the Infinity Ward side of it as much as anyone), the alternatives aren't there. Battlefield's been a mess for months. Killzone got so-so reviews. The alternatives become Titanfall and Halo two Xbox console exclusives.

The only time you get a REAL advantage for the PS4, in my opinion, is MLB The Show. The Uncharted and Infamous stuff doesn't entice me, and it's not like Microsoft won't offer anything of that style anyway. But my point is mostly that while you might not like Forza or CoD, the two main things selling on the One, Sony's not going to give you alternatives to it with their console. the easiest way to put it is that if you like shooters, the One is likely to be your preferred console.

Um...a little game called Destiny will be available for PS4 with exclusive content.

Its not like there will be no shooters on the ps4 at all and besides you acting like CoD doesn't exist on ps4 either is pretty funny. Not only that but shooters aren't the saving grace you think.

I wonder what the internet reception of Destiny would be like if MS kept Bungie, and it were an XB1 exclusive?

Woo boy, Xbox One got its ass kicked in January according to NPD. Pretty disappointing. I'd really like to see a better marketing campaign about its media features, every one of my friends who comes by is blown away by the TV stuff and instant switch to game.

100 bucks less + more power + xb1 is really really getting drilled by the internet.. lol. I really don't care though, the box suits my needs, and my core groups of friends are on it. If something enticing comes by for ps4, I might pick it up.

Anyhow, I hear the keys for TF beta have started to get sent out. Anyone get in yet? Watching the live gameplay IGN and Gamespot is killing me. I really wanna play this game!!

Hard to say. I do remember seeing something about bungie wanting to move past Halo and do something new but MS wanted to keep the name going for brand recognition.something like that anyway. I wonder if destiny would have happened if they stayed with MS.

c'mon.. you know the answer to my question. It would be "oh , just another halo, gears, cod, for the xboners"

I am a Bungie fan, have been since playing Marathon on my father's Mac way back in the 90s. I have played every Halo game except the strategy game and read some of the books (obviously not written by bungie themselves). You could say by extension I am a Halo fan. Some people do look at shooters, any shooter, as just another typical fps. In a sea of various fps games it isn't hard to see their point but there are great games in there too and they aren't all multiplayer oriented or a clone of some other title. CoD gets flak because of the yearly release schedule. There are other fps games that dont have that type of release schedule and the quality difference to me is apparent.

I'll give you a good example. I'm playing Tomb Raider. My family comes in and says "Let's watch Breaking Bad" (on the DVR.) I pause my game, watch the show, and then pick up in the game exactly where I left off. It's a really really nice feature. Like you said, not a console defining feature. But it's better to have the feature than not have, imho.

But then again... You and I, who have a HTPC hooked up to our TV's, we are an overwhelming minority. I'm sure the passthrough and media features are more significant to many other people.

I absolutely agree 100%.

you can do what you are saying very easily without using any tv pass through feature.

you simply press pause on the xbox1.

switch inputs to tv.

finish watching show, switch input back to xbox1 and unpause and you are right where you left off.

My comments not directed towards you brother, just saying that all the backlash and hate towards Titanfall is really just due to the fact that it's not coming to the ps4. Not the comments made here at this forum, but around all of the web in every little comment section for news and videos regarding the game.

edit: ps4 owners have nothing to worry about, they will be getting thier infamous, the order, some great looking titiles upcoming. Leave us brogamers alone, lol.

The flipside is people using the argument that "your indie station 3.5 isn't getting titanfall lulz" as if it will make or break it. I have seen it both ways. I am not interested in titanfall myself because I dont see anything spectacular to bring me to be excited. I dont have a large circle of friends to play it with either. I will see what pc gamers think of it because I would get it on pc if I bought it anyway.

True, and that's what I used to do when playing on the 360, but now you can do it with out putting down the controller at all or just by telling the xbox to do it. Nothing major, not a system seller for sure, but definitely convenient. Like after a cod match, I can say xbox watch tv, check a score on a football game and bounce right back.

The PS4 outsold the Xbox One, but the Xbox One has a higher attach rate with less game sales. Also, the Xbox Brand still was the strongest (Xbox One + Xbox 360 games sales contributing to 47% of total game sales). I hardly think MS is in any trouble.

Let's be fair, TF is coming out on the 360 with a install-base of 80m and the PC with an install-base in the zagillions. So those 4m XB1 owners are not some elite group.

I said that the CoD alternatives "aren't" there, not that they'll NEVER be there. Destiny's exclusive content could be something meaningless, like it was with NBA 2K14 (I literally can't remember what the PS4 got, because it was so insignificant). Other than early beta access, we know nothing of the incentives to get it on PS4.

More-importantly, it's not an exclusive title. Microsoft's going to offer up Titanfall and Halo on its consoles, while Sony's already given people Killzone. While I thought it looked good, most reviews said it was ho-hum, nothing special. Given that the franchise has never taken off like Halo, it's hard to think that Killzone would be a major draw to the platform, when put up against the Xbox One's options.

As for being a "saving grace," it's a matter of perspective. On the Xbox 360, 9 of the 12 top-selling games are CoD or Halo. The exceptions are Kinect Adventures, which was given out for free, and the last 2 GTA games. On the PS3, it's better, but it's still 7 of their top-12 are FPS titles, 6 CoDs and BF3. You can easily go into the rest of the list and find quality non-shooters, but that's still the top-selling genre. (All numbers from VGChartz)

I'm not sure what "saving grace" means to you, but when CoD alone is carrying half of the PS3's top-12 sales numbers and CoD+Halo make up three-fourths of those slots on the 360, it's hard to argue that shooters aren't what the majority prefers. I'm not saying that their choices are right or smart, but those are the choices being made.

While Destiny has a lot going for it, it's hard to argue early beta access and what is likely some minor exclusive content on the PS4 is enough to sway FPS fans over Titanfall AND Halo, even if you throw in Killzone. Sony needs a new exclusive FPS IP, in my opinion. On the plus side, they'll be getting Titanfall titles from here on out, so it'll solely be a question of Halo going forward.

you can also hold onto the controller while you change the input on your tv lol :p

but yeah it is a tad more convenient, but i personally don't ever plan on running my tv through my x1, i just see absolutely no benefit for me personally.

Yeah, and the PC version of Black Ops II was pegged at just over 1 million copies, while the 360 was credited for more than 12 million and the PS3 had over 11 million sales.

I think that the PC market for Titanfall will primarily be made up of PS4 folks who are unwilling to switch consoles for Titanfall alone. Even then, it'll be tough to see PC sales anywhere near the Xbox One sales, if recent FPS history is to be believed.

Well, I think Titanfall will help move Xbox Ones for those that don't want to get it on 360. PC sales will be pretty low (same as with CODs), but that isn't a huge deal, as console sales will be high.

I agree, to an extent. I think that there will be a decent number of folks who just skip Titanfall because they don't want it on 360, but they also won't guy buy a One over it. I'm in that camp, for example. The only way I'll get Titanfall is if AMD bundles it with their graphics cards like they did Battlefield 4, though that's got a lot to do with the fact that I refuse to give EA my money. I'm going to get a new video card after I graduate, I'm thinking, so I'd play Titanfall if I got it for free.

Because of that, I doubt my brother-in-law or cousin get the game, either. Both have 360s, but they probably would get Titanfall to play it with me, but if I'm still playing Halo and Black Ops II, I think both of them are more than fine with keeping what they have. That's how I think a lot of folks will treat this--they aren't going to buy a new console over it, and if their friends aren't getting it, they'll stick with what they have to play with those friends.

I think that the benefit is for sports fans. For example, I don't watch much TV, unless it's live sports. I could easily find myself snapping a Cubs game alongside whatever I'm playing. I won't be concerned about audio lag because I won't be watching the game primarily to notice it.

All you talk about are fps games. Is that all you play for real? There are a ton of other genres that MS doesn't have any studios working on while Sony does. That will likely be the difference if nothing changes from today, not who has the most FPS games. So what if fps games sell? So does GTA and madden and fifa and NBA 2k. So will tons of other games that are not fps games. So you get the same people buying cod year after year and for a month you have good sales. The rest of the year you get stomped because you have no action and adventure games, no RPGs, no baseball game at all (there are still people who buy them). All of this is as important as the next fps game that goes online.

MS could use a good kick in the ass to get these types of games and expand beyond their standard audience. That will move more units and in turn push Sony's team to expand their vision beyond their core audience. We will all benefit from more unique and better quality games.

Even though I like the One better(still like the 4), I think MS getting outsold is deserved and will be good. I want to see aggressive and desperate MS

It really isn't a huge concern at this point. They are being outsold in the first 3-4 months means very little over the life of the console. If, they are still being outsold in the US by the same margins in 3 or 4 years, they MIGHT get desperate, but that depends on total sales and the attach rate. If the Xbox is winning in games sold and attach rate, they aren't desperate.

They will lose that mindshare if this continues. Last gen the 360 was the console, ps4 is on track to take that spot
