WoooooHoooooooooooo :D

EXCELLENT !!!

Lets see what kind of response we get now. :)

I may relocate the BEOWULF to another location that has generator backup. (Before it's all assembled.)
We can't be down because of a little power problem can we?

I have found two small hard drives, a Trident and S3 video card in my pile of junk. Tack that on the list.

Thanks SpiffyGuy!

Once most of the mobo's come in and I get a chance to see what we have, I'll see if there is a need for your memory.

Thanks for spare parts! We may just need it.

Are we locked in on 10/100 Ethernet cards? I have a bunch of SMC Ethernet cards but I know they are all 10 mbit cards.

Are you guys interested in these cards? I have at least 10.

I've made a commitment of (18) 10/100 PCI nics to the effort, so we should be okay for network cards. :D

Okay, I have confirmation AND I have the power supplies! :D

(24) Enlight ATS150 microATX 150watt power supplies

I also have an additional (6) 145watt standard ATX power supplies, so there's another base covered. ;)

Right firstly I havent had time to read the entire thread ,sorry:eek:

I have 2 spare 230w ATX PSU's ,1 200AT PSU ,& 1 1Mb S3 PCI graphics card ,the trouble is I suspect it would cost a small fortune to ship any of it from here in the UK to the USA.Thoughts guys?

Won't you have the same probs?

Confused
Maybe you could setup a mini cluster at your place?;) ,I'd be willing to give you those bits:).Btw I also have a Slot1 Cel 300A that does 450MHz at def vcore but I'd want a little something for that, though it'd be no good for a BP6!

Hey, i'm paying my mum £10 per month for electricity for "all the damn computers you have running all the bloody time" so i think i might even be able to get away with it! :Q;)

Plus, i have space for a few nodes (and was going to start my own crack rack) so i reckon i could actually do it! :)

This way it truly could be a whole Team, multinational effort, all running under one account! :)

I will check it out with the mother, and get back to you, and any UK/Europeans who want to donate could send it to me in UK rather than all the way over the pond to America

I know I have a 4MB S3 or Trident PCI Vid Card and possibly a 24 or 48 port patch panel with the rack.
EDIT (Bracket I mean) :D

Other than older 32MB EDO DIMMs I think I have a 64MB PC 133 Module as well.

Just moved so I have to do some digging to be sure! lol.

Assim1 - Presumably. I'm not sure of the amount so I'll see once I get to the Post Office. I'm willing to pay anything up to a tenner, seeing that NICs arent really that heavy at all.

I can toss in some memory ( probably only one stick of 128 )
a bunch of 80mm case fans (Cooling is needed right?)
I also have a 10/100 nic I can spare along with a 10mbit 24 port hub if it would work.
I have a bunch of 56k modems I could trade or sell for some $ for some more Nics.
I have a good 6 mice and 20 AT keyboards as well.

oh, and if NWM's floppies are not enough, I have another 6 I can part with.

Rather than fooling with KVM's wouldn't it be better to use something like VNC and remote admin them. If you need something for init setup just keep an extra monitor handy or something.

Not sure that VNC will work as each node will be booted from a floppy that connects to the "head" machine and mounts the partition as if it was local.

VNC might still work though.. depending upon the configuration, the program should be runnable(?) from a shared drive/network drive or subdirectory for each machine... ?

Even at $17.99 each, its still cheaper than Pricewatch which had $20.00 as it's cheapest for any speed 128M ram.

Also, as soon as I get the Video cards (mentioned above) out of the PC's, I'll forward them to LANMAN! :)

:)

I am going by Office Max today. I will see if the same pricing and rebate applies to Alaska. :D

Good grief. Not only did they not have it on sale, the baseline price was $49.99 for 128MB of PC100! :Q I know we have a higher cost of living up here, but that is retarded! Looks like my only contribution will be what I can get with my vendor credit.

Hmm, unless a friend of mine who takes care of computer matters for his company has some more junk to get rid of. :D
