First off I'll say I like Dave a lot, and always have. He's a knowledgeable guy that I used to debate a lot back in the good old days at 3dfx Gamers.

Second, I'll say that what Dave is best at these days is getting inside info from ATI, that he basically pays for with a pro-ATI slant to his reviews.

Third, I'd say I don't think there is anything wrong with that, we need people who are connected at ATI to get us info.

WTH, You should just admit that you are wrong instead of starting to attack sites (Beyond3D) that don't agree with your views.

And no I don't agree with your view of Dave being biased.

EDIT: Dave doesn't even do direct comparisons of hardware, those temps were taken from two different reviews...

Were you the one who said the 512mb GTX has a loud cooler? :Q
The quadro cooler is probably one of the best/coolest/quiet stock coolers you can find.

LOL- no he's the one who proved the 512 GTX has the loudest cooler by linking to ATI fansite B3d.

No Rollo I wasn't the one that posted the links. Maybe you should read the reviews and the posts next time (so you wont confuse the values).

And no Rollo, Beyond3D is not ATi fan site just because they dont agree with your opinion. Take a look at the links, the posted values were taken from two different reviews. Dave does not do direct comparisons, only reviews hardware.

Believe me there will be nothing quiet about the R580 launch. ATI is obviously starting up the rumor mill again. They're picking up right where the R520 rumor mill left off. The only difference is that most of us are too smart to listen to it. My apologies for my earlier posts in this thread; I'm tempted to edit them and delete everything. :(

It's a lot easier for ATI to crank out rumors than cards Sickbeast. When you got no game, all you can do is talk smack.

is that your excuse?

i mean, the r580 specific products (x1900 or whatever) would be trumpted heavily, but while they're doing that they also quietly switch the r520 chips out from the x1800 line as well.

1. Dave lost his most famous writer this year, who posted he left due to the ATI bias of the site?
2. Daves vendor relations are with ATI, and not many doubt or mind that
3. You didn't bother to address my condemnation of Dave's methodology and post links to another site that show the 6800U/7800GTX 256/7800GTX 512 all at the same sound level?

Fine. Prove it, find the source/claim/resignation or whatever it might be.

I dont know the exact relations he has with vendors but that wouldn't automatically makes him biased.

Until you addressed what was wrong with Beyond3D's (besides crying ATi fansite and bias) I didn't see the need to.

I have never been banned from the forums.

Wow, you must really new to this, most of us here remember this. Here you go:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...hreadid=1558314&enterthread=y&arctab=y
The linked threads have been removed, but this thread contained the first snippet of Rev's rant:
IN MY OPINION (and it's a serious one), NVIDIA has done more to advance PC 3D graphics than any other company. By a mile.

ATI, however, has seen one avenue to reduce this -- by being more friendly and accessible to media outlets (like Beyond3D). Does anyone think Dave, for example, is getting preferential treatment from ATI (for whatever -- valid [according to ATI] or otherwise reasons)?
There was a lot more, and the general consensus was that Reverend quit due to a difference of philosophy with Dave, site owner.

2. Daves vendor relations are with ATI, and not many doubt or mind that
I dont know the exact relations he has with vendors but that wouldn't automatically makes him biased.

Let's jsut say it "flavors" both his posts and his reviews. His recent assertion that the 6800U, 256 GTX, and 512GTX are all within 1dB of each other for noise when no other website in the world would post something that far off base is evidence of that.

Again, I like Dave and I like his site, but when go there you have to expect he's going to put ATI in the best possible light because that is his preferred vendor.

3. You didn't bother to address my condemnation of Dave's methodology and post links to another site that show the 6800U/7800GTX 256/7800GTX 512 all at the same sound level?

I knew you couldn't and making up some reason why you won't doesn't excuse you from the job if you expect us to believe B3ds posts about noise levels. Either their testing is flawed, or they just plain want to make nV look bad, but they're the ONLY place on the web with the stones to post something as ludicrous as these cards with totally different cooling solutions perform within 1dB of each other.

You saying "Well, you have to prove he's biased before I disbelieve him" is a cowards way out, the retreat of someone trolling rather than interested in real information.
