Cool I only did one mission so far so I wasn't sure how different the others would be. I need to play some more to get the hang of it. It's quite interesting to have the exploration aspect of the environment. I noticed you can summon your ground vehicle to get around but didn't figure out where I wanted to go.

I'm just hoping it would not get repetitive doing those team based missions. I already noticed that in some areas you need other players or you easily get stomped.

I may pre order it so I can get into the beta and have more time with it.

With more story mission it will be more interesting. Also if you can do the strike mission you will see something new as well with regard to fire teams and how bungie envisioned co-op for loot.

Can you communicate with others on the field via the Mic? My buddy and I will try and connect up tonite and gather some people to do some of those missions.

I have not tried that yet. I plan to hook up with a fiend of mine and try it. I believe you can, but I haven't seen any mention of communication.

I played the strike mission last night.

There were 3 of us, me 6, 6 and a 5.

The first part was getting into the building and than protecting the floating thing while it deactivated 3 meshes. You had to survive wave after wave of bad guys. It was tough.

Next part was fighting the tank with legs. HARD as hell. The first time we tried we wiped after about 30 mins. We respawned and took another stab at it.

Yet another 30 mins and we finally took him down.

The final part is fighting this HUGE floating orb that shoots purple bolts. This only took us 15-20 mins and we got loot drops.

After that, you get a mission complete message and the timer starts counting down from 30 seconds and then you are returned to your ship.


I had a lot of fun. So much in fact that I sent friend requests to the people who got put in the same Strike instance as myself.

Nice that sounds like a lot of fun. I like it when people actually work together and don't just go off on their own. This game doesn't do that it seems because everyone that starts a mission probably is in it to finish it where as in other online team based games people just goof around. Looks like here you don't have that chance as much.

So if I preorder destiny will I get beta for July or was that something you had to do before the alpha?

You had to sign up before yesterday 12am pst for alpha. I'm just going to pre order on my way home at game stop because I don't wanna do it online and have something messed up where I don't get a beta code to redeem.

That's what I did last year. The code prints on your receipt.

Well. I didnt know what I was getting into. Just that we spawned on the same map and the mobs were hard as hell to kill on your own. The only thing you could do was join up.

Is there a workable kb/mouse kind of solution for PS4 yet? Destiny has me thinking about jumping on the white bundle, but I don't enjoy playing FPS with a pad at all.

I've seen some that work pretty well on last-gen consoles, but a working PS4 solution I think would tip me over the edge.

Downloading the Destiny Alpha now. I never signed up or checked my email, it just showed up on my PS4 notifications tab.

Awesome. I went from 'meh/10' to 'holy, that's awesome' after seeing a good bit of Alpha gameplay.

I said it all along, Bungie are wizards with this stuff and people may be surprised how well done it is. Hopefully they can keep the co-op content fresh since IMO that's where the meat of the game is at. After all they do have a 10 year contract with Activision to keep this game rolling along.

Strangely enough... I don't think that's correct. While I am a PS+ member, I did not sign up for the alpha -- I didn't even know it was going on! :p I got a buzz earlier on my phone, and I was surprised to see that it was a push notification about a notification from PlayStation -- I've never seen one of those before. I checked it out, and I got into the Destiny alpha, which I never signed up for. All 6.8GB are downloading right now!
