Apparently the E3 demo for Uncharted 4 was running in real time

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=835985

That has to be a lie.

I find that in these situations that the lie is that they are running on stock hardware. I'm not saying that it's this way in this case, but it isn't that uncommon to discover that these demos run on developer PCs before getting optimized for consoles.

In my experience, the smaller the game environments are, the more likely they are to match earlier builds. Open world games tend to require lots of performance optimization for their particular platforms so the end product can vary widely.

Again, I'm not making that claim here. I'm only pointing out that it's possible. I'm not a big fan of Uncharted, but I find the Destiny screen shots to be phenomenal.

I agree on Destiny...it looks fantastic for an open world game. Supposedly anything you can see, you can go to in the game. Of course there is a barrier, but it's a barrier built into the world like mountains or an ocean you can't cross. No invisible walls or "warning you are leaving the mission area"

I watched a 20 min gameplay video of destiny on YouTube. The guy was doing a single player mission at first and then afterwards, he went out in to the world and I like how you get notifications of optional quests and other mission. Looks pretty cool and I may actually be into it.

I think I just need to understand it more so I hope I get in the alpha tomorrow. Looks like a cross between halo and borderlands. I'm just unsure about all the character upgrades and skills sections. Seems like I could get lost in there.

I've only been giving a little bit of attention to E3. Does anyone have any information about any other PS4 exclusives? The one franchise I really want to hear about is God of War, but I guess its too early to talk about. Uncharted and Little Big Planet really don't do it for me. I know 2015 should bring a lot but I'm having trouble finding games to get excited about in 2014 for both platforms. Destiny looks fantastic and there are one or two games on the dark side that I'm interested in, but that's about it. :^/

There is the order and bloodborne as exclusives. Bloodborne is from the developers of dark souls so it will most likely be very challenging. I sucked at that game so bad so I'm not sure if it will be fun for me if bloodborne is the same way.

There is another title let it die, although very little was exposed about it. You basically hunt your way through what seems like an asylum.

No man's sky looked cool, you are thrown into a universe and can explore it how you want. Seemed kind of neat.

And abzu, from the makers of journey although it looks like it takes place under water. Interesting to see what that will bring too.

There wasn't a lot said or shown about the other titles. I think we will see more stuff at the Tokyo Game Show including some RPGs we can expect to also see over here at some point. God of War wasn't spoken of at all. Honestly, I think they are done with that one but who knows.

I didn't see a lot of 2014 releases as far as exclusives go for any platform. I think development times being what they are these days, that's to be expected. Games revealed at last year's E3 or even before are just now going to be releasing in the fall.

I just read that they are remaking Grim Fandango for the PS4. I can't even begin to convey how awesome that is to me. Is it weird that I'm more excited about the remake of a 16 year old game than I am about any of the other predictable stuff that has been announced?

I think I still have the Voodoo 2 3DFX card I used to play this game originally.

Yes and no. To some of us Grim Fandango is embedded in our child hoods. That and it was a damn good game.

I hope they don't screw it up.

Yep, it's huge for old school LA adventure fans. Tim Schafer did a retrospective on the game, and hints at what might be included in the remastered version.

Sounds like they might make the controls more akin to Telltale's adventure games. Which would be a huge upgrade from the original's tank controls.

Would love to see his 2D adventure games get the Special Edition treatment, like Monkey Island got. At least Full Throttle or Day of the Tentacle. I never got to play the latter.

I hope you are right about the controls. I remember the original keyboard layout to be a bit odd.

At least many of great AGI and SCI games are playable via ScummVM, assuming you can get access to the game discs.

A couple of screenshots in case anyone was curious. The character screen showing your weapons and armor as well as level. Then the skills you can upgrade as you progress.

I have not seen any clarification on these questions but how many different worlds/levels are there? How big are they? For people who do not care about co op or multiplayer, is the single player a full experience?

To note, Bungie said everyone that signed up will get in. They'll probably be sending the e-mails in waves to avoid a massive rush, but you should get one. Unfortunately, I didn't even know that there was a sign up, and it's over with. 😛

There is really no single player per-se. You see you are always in the online multiplayer connected world. You can roll alone but I've already encountered enemies that you need a team for unless you somehow grind levels which is next to impossible due to the enemies that don't respawn. You can invite friends to your fireteam though if you wish.

However, you are given random missions/events that often have quests with XP rewards (possibly other loot rewards) based on your level. These are optional. I got one that required me to defend from a small wave of enemies including a lv7 enemy that was sort of the leader. The enemy AI will find cover, flank you, and use the environment to their advantage often as well.

Played about an hour of destiny. You can customize your character and levels a lot. Pretty cool. Graphics are great and the free roam environment is really neat. I just don't fully understand the game yet. Looks like there is a story mission and then free roam co op. In free roam you find beacons to do missions and one of them for me was scouting enemies. I had a hard time getting on top of this container to complete it. I'm not sure if after the mission you just have to walk away or what? Seems like enemies kept coming. Not sure what the other missions would be from other beacons.

Overall I like it but I'm not sure what else there is to do. Seems like most of the objectives are to just find a set of enemies and gather Intel and then fight big bosses. As I said I don't get it yet, I mean the structure of the game but it's neat.

I read enemies respawns were borderline older COD bad, hope not

They don't really respawn they send in waves of enemies and I think each time they are a little more difficult. For a mmo I wonder how long the story based game will be.

I need to spend more time with it to really understand the game lol.

The main game has multiple game modes. You choose one when you are in orbit and choose to go to earth instead of the tower.

1) story missions you can do solo or with up to 3 people. These tie into the campaign.
2) explore - cruise around the world and do tasks for the city. You go to beacons and accept a contract. Complete these to gain experience and gather materials you can sell or use at the tower to upgrade armors and weapons. This is more of the free roam, go anywhere, check out stuff activity for up to 3 people.
3) strikes - 3 person missions with a boss to defeat and loot drops. Basic teamwork is required.
4) raids - high level missions for 6 players. Teamwork is a necessity to survive but the rewards are higher.
5) crucible - this is your PvP mode

As for the story the alpha is dropping you in at a point where the prologue would have already taken place and you would know what is going on already. The player's monologues to himself tell a lot of what is going on as you progress through a story mission.

In the game's lore the fallen are guarding the old moon base in Russia. You have to infiltrate the ray dome and find out why. You discover that the hive is hiding out on earth inside this particular structure. They were locked in the colony on the moon and thought to have been eradicated from earth. That is not the case and they have found a way back to earth.
