What do you not like about it?

My problem with ds4--and frankly I cannot remember if I have this with other controllers or not--is my fingers slip. I control the sticks from the edge, never on top, and my thumb seems to slip over the top of it at which point since the top is mostly flat the thumb keeps on going. As such I regularly need to rekey it to the edge of the stick. I wonder if some after market cap made of some other material or shape could resolve the issue.

There is a peak on top of the DS4 analog sticks that drops down into a channel around the outside edge. I don't know how to describe it any better than that but you know what I mean. You are saying that you always use the edge in the channel?

Boy, I ended up with a copy of Madden 25 and played some of it last night. It's amazing how clunky and unpolished the game feels when compared to FIFA. The models are crappier, the gameplay does not feel as smooth, and even the UI (though it seems to be pretty similar) feels sluggish and laid out in a more cumbersome way. It's very strange; I kept laughing at some of the things happening on the screen (graphics and actions) and I never had that happen with FIFA. Even the music sounds terrible in comparison.

That said I still had some fun the game and I really do like getting to play my Vikes, but I'm happy I did not pay $60 for it.

Edit: oh and Phil Simms doing the colour? Ugh. D:

I dont dislike the ps4/controller but I do dislike the interface. I just dont like how it is setup or like how it looks visually. I also like how Kinect enhances the experience for me on the One so I should probably get the camera for the ps4, it would probably make it more enjoyable for me. The ps4 itself is a nice console and it will have some amazing games. Uncharted is my favorite series and I cant wait for the next one, it will be incredible Im sure

Eh, the voice commands aren't really all that useful on the PS4 if that's what you're hoping for. There's a very small list of available commands, but the PS4 is laid out well enough that I've never really needed them. Although, I was disappointed that there isn't a command to get it to eject the disc. 🙁

Madden is the game I've played most. Graphically, it's looks like a ps3/360 game. It's kind of hideous. The animations are meh, and I keep seeing the same spinning fall during tackle over and over, along with my sideline guys making the same hand motions over and over. Annoying. Commentary is boring as hell and super repetitious, so it's muted. The menus are kind of crappy, especially in MUT mode. So counterintuitive.

I still like the game, just because I'm a huge football fan. It isn't a great game though.

Yeah I'm about the same. Glad to hear I'm not alone on the graphics/animations/UI/commentary.

I'm with you though. I played one game and was sort of laughing at the game, but then I played three more games after that and wanted to keep playing. 😀

I think end of January. I haven't heard anything officially either. The last two were stability fixes so my guess is the next one would be some enhancements too hopefully.
Would be nice if they made the thing actually work as a functional blu-ray player, you know, considering it has a blu-ray drive.

It's high time the damn thing could play media via USB or DLNA, too.

I haven't found a blu ray that didn't work. Are you trying to play burned discs?

anybody hear\know when the next update is coming for the PS4?

There will most likely be an update before the Japanese launch, with is February 22nd. The suspend feature is still missing. Since that was something pretty big they announced at E3 last year, it's going to have to be added in sooner rather than later.

Nope, retail, but plenty of people online have had the same issue. The two that failed so far of the handful I've tried are Percy Jackson lightning thief and anastasia. I've seen at least one person say fast furious 6 wouldn't run for them.

It's not much skin off my back, though. I have the three year warranty and if the thing chokes it's on Sony's dime (well, after my first 500 that is). All I've seen from SOny is right after release talking about the low defect rates. I've yet to see anything about whether the issues we're having with discs are related to hardware or software. If I was so inclined I'd make a thread at IGN or something and get people to state exactly the discs that fail. If we can confirm some people can use their PS4 to run discs that others cannot, it points strongly to hardware.

I own the Percy Jackson movie on Blu-Ray if you want me to try it out on the PS4. Does it just refuse to play, freeze in a certain spot, or something like that?
Great! Make sure it is light ing thief. You will see issues immediately. It loads hella slow and although the first trailer comes up with a woman talking in her house about something getting into the movie and then properly fast forwarding and anything else isn't possible. Also the options menu when it is pulled up with triangle may overlay text incorrectly over other text.

this past weekend i decided to see if my ps4 controller worked after having it charged via usb to my receiver after it was on for like 8 hours on saturday, and nope, i still get no power from the controller. so it's definitely a dud of a controller. i'm gonna call sony at some point this week and see how the whole warranty process works for a new one.

I put the movie in the PS4, and it started loading (swirly icon). Unfortunately, once it hit the 20th Century Home logo, it just froze up. I gave it a few minutes, but nothing seemed to happen. I tried to quit out, but it didn't seem to help. I ended up removing the disc, and telling the machine to power off. It took around a minute for the PS4 to turn off. :$ To make sure it just isn't a bad disc, I put it on my PC and played it using Arcsoft's Total Media Theater 6. The movie played without a hitch.

Did u try changing it on your PS4 and not something else?

Thank you! That happens exactly. It more or less locks the system and I can get to that logo also. I refuse to believe the Percy Jackson blu-rays are bad. No obvious mention of it on amazon reviews and it works fine in my ps3. Bet all ps4's cannot play that movie which means either all of them have faulty hardware or more likely (I hope) we all need a software update.

Anyone know of a place to get the PS4 camera for MSRP (or cheaper). My wife wants to play Just Dance, which seems to be the only game worth having the camera for.

I've tried the websites for Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and Wal-mart. None have stock.

Hmm interesting thing happened earlier. My PS4 got turned off when the power cycled a few weeks ago. I tried to turn it on with the controller, and it simply would not turn on. The controllers acted sort of like they weren't even paired with the PS4. I had to turn the console on with the power button on the front, and then the controllers worked normally.

I guess I ought to put the PS4 into the battery back-up on the UPS that's down there.

Maybe I'll have to look to see if I own any other 20th Century Fox releases from around the same time to see if they also screw up. Although, with how much of a pain it was to get the PS4 to turn off, I don't know if I want to do it again. 😛

That's kind of crazy... I had no idea that you couldn't find one anymore! 😱 Are they just popular or is Sony just not making them much anymore? I didn't think anyone was buying them....
