Agree 100%, but maybe it was not during download, but rather during the application of the patch instead. I know a lot of hardware warns a user not to power it down during an update.
 
My order from Amazon changed to "preparing for shipment" overnight. As soon as I get a tracking number, I'm thinking about asking UPS to hold for pickup, since that will be easier and safer for me.

Could it have been that the user was playing a game and the system was downloading and trying to update in the background ? Possibly the user wasn't paying attention or didn't know any better so they turned it off ?

We here all know about computers and how they work pretty much as it's a tech forum but it is common sense not to shut down the system while it is updating.

I'm going to say it could also be a software bug issue maybe with multithreading? Who knows, and those guys with a taco bell ps4, well it just seemed like theirs would stop working / booting.

Rule of thumb and you should know this. Do not turn off the power until an update is complete. Hell windows 8.1 took over an hour sitting at some percentage and I canceled it and what do you know, broke windows. Lol

If my solid state array takes an hour to do anything I'm throwing it away. 😀

Or at the least Id say screw this and restore a partition backup in 25 seconds.

I don't play those games.

welp my taco bell ps4 is out for delivery now and should be at my house within 2 hours. i made the wife get up when i left for work so she doesn't miss it when they knock lol.

amazon ps4 is preparing for shipment right now. anyone know if amazon is making people sign for these? i've never ever had to sign for an amazon package before in general, but wasn't sure if this is different for some reason.

Heh it was just the windows 8.1 update installer that takes forever. I restored and tried again and the same thing at the same percentage. It eventually finished. Saw reports across the internet about it too. Worst install experience ever too.

I'll have mine tomorrow morning. Going to best buy to pick it up since I'm off. Their website still says payment validated and I think by now it should say preparing order. Although I called and the order status is awaiting fulfillment.

nope the psn+ card that comes with it can't be redeemed until tomorrow, and i don't have psn+ yet so i get to play good ol KNACK tonight! although i'm curious if gamestop is still giving extra credit for tradeins towards ps4 stuff.

Let us know if you have any issues. If I get mine tonite I'll probably report back since I'll be awake. But I have not decided yet if doing the midnight thing is what I want.

Try trading knack in to gamestop. Should be able to get a decent amount. I'm unsure what game I will open. Probably killzone and cod and leave AC unopened until I figure out if I want to keep it.

Same boat. Unless some incredible game comes out, I am not getting one (or XBone for that matter) at launch. Do hope I have a reason to upgrade for winter break when I get 10 days off of work.
 
Mine is being prepared to shipment.. CC already charged. 🙂

Sucks I won't be able to get it til Saturday cause the leasing office holds packages and I won't make it before they close.
