I hope you'll be able to charge the DS4 through a normal charger this time. I have a spare iPod charger laying around but they don't work with the DS3 for some reason. Nor does any other powered USB port not connected to a computer. Except the one on my TV oddly enough.

They mentioned that the ds4 will be able to function as a controller on the pc too so you should be able to charge it via any usb charging device.

Does the PS4 have any USB ports in the back?
Some stuff I keep plugged in, like extra HD, don't really want them sticking out the front.

No USB unfortunately. It has an axillary port for the PlayStation Eye. Seems to be proprietary though.

crap. more wires hanging out the front. I don't mind the front ports for quick plug n remove stuff but why not one in the back for more permanent attachments, couldn't have cost that much.
Guess I could just get a NAS storage drive rather than USB, I assume the pS4 could access it?

I usually just hook up ps3media server wirelessly from my desktop and stream what I want from my pc to my living room. I don't see why it would not work with an NAS.

Very cool!

I was all ready to order one, but one thing came to mind... can you turn the LEDs off? The LED seems like it might be a bit bright if you leave this in a room while you trying to do something like watch a movie. The only charging LED you get on the PS3 dock that I have is the LED on the controller.

He also has a video with him trying it on a PC:

It looks like we'll be keeping our 360 controllers hooked up for at least a while longer. 😛

The LED light is not bright on the PS3 version. All you have to do is take the controllers out and the light goes off.

It will eventually work on PC. I am certain of it.

I wish Sony would just take some time to make their own drivers. I never got the ps3 controller to work properly, and with the xbox controller being plug and play there was no reason it jump through hoops. They might not care about getting some extra sales in the PC gamer market, but IMO it would be worth their trouble.

Especially during the PS3 days... They have the vastly superior D-pad. Now with MS remake, their D-pad should suffice just as nicely.

They could have had many accessory sales!

I agree even though I used third party drivers to get the controller working on my pc. Some people really had issues with it.

You've got to run it wired through USB, then use the MotionJoy driver/tool package. Works beautifully for me. Basically, it tricks Windows/Games into thinking it's a 360 controller.

I used MotionJoy, never worked as well as the 360 controller and took more steps to get working. Why bother when there exists a controller that works flawlessly as soon as you plug it in?

I didn't want to go out and buy a 360 controller to use only once in a while if I already had a ps3 controller. The problem with motionjoy is bad documentation. It's not that hard to set up.

I didn't have any hoops. There was a driver, and a piece of software you setup to configure the deadzone of the sticks and such. You could even mirror the Xbox360 controller which is what I did. You just need to keep the controller plugged in if you don't have bluetooth on your PC. Following this guide I had my PS3 controller functioning in 5 minutes. I've even had both my 360 controller and PS3 controller working at the same time.
