Blasted Sony. Even after the price cut, the price disparity between the 32GB Vita memory card and a 32GB MicroSD card is greater now than it was at the launch of the Vita.

$80 for $25 of NAND is absurd. Especially since if you intend to download most of your games and/or are going to make liberal use of PS+, you absolutely must have the largest card.

Sony keeps saying it's because the cards are much faster than MicroSD. Though independent tests strongly contradict this. Mind you, it's hard to get accurate numbers as everything has to pass through their content manager. Though I highly doubt it's slowing things down that much.

At $80 for 32GB, you only really see those kinds of prices in desktop SSDs and professional grade Compact Flash cards. These are devices that are rated for 60MB/s and up. The Vita cards simply are nowhere near that fast. Maybe the write rates are better (I doubt it) but read rate is all that matters in a media consumption device.

Ideally the cards should be priced as an impulse buy. Will encourage people to download more from the PlayStation Store instead of buying games at retail. Which should be top priority, as Sony gets 100% of the revenue, instead of giving a cut to Gamestop et al. Gouging on the memory is a short term solution to a long term problem, and it's not working. You make more profit on each sold, but you sell less of them.

I really like the UI. Select your game and it shows you all the relevant info about it before you hit play. Very similar to how steam presents you with news, related content, and your trophies when you look at your library. It's also familiar to those of us who have used a PS3.
I really like it too. What would be even better is if any time there is new dlc for a game, it shows up right there at the game launch screen. That way I don't miss out on content. But I do like the UI the more I look at it.

I've never played the other killzone games. For some reason it reminds me of resistance I dunno why. Although it's not the same. I'm unsure if I would like it. Kind of feel the same about knack and that game at first looked kind of fun.

15 minutes of knack gameplay. Looks good to me if just a little repetitive. Just gotta see if the reviews hold up for it, could be fatal flaws who knows. Not sold yet but it doesn't look like it outright sucks.

knack looks pretty solid. one thing i noticed is the camera is fixed like god of war and not free-control like ratchet and clank.

Knack looks good so I'll just wait for reviews. I will have enough to play anyway at launch. If it turns out good then I'll get it later.

I can go either way on Knack so far. I can see the potential for it being great, but I can see it being rather ho hum as well. Definitely a wait and see game currently.

I only watched maybe five minutes of the video, but the one thing that I picked up on is that there's a heavy emphasis on not getting hit. Now, the objective of most games is to avoid getting hit, but when a single hit from that twin-spear enemy took half of Knack's health away...!

When you collect parts and grow in size your health also grows and you take less damage.

Sony announced they already have a million preorders. Which is more sales than the PS3 had during it's first holiday season.

preorders don't really mean jack shit when you can preorder things without putting money down.

and they probably have more than they did at ps3 launch because they hardly had any hardware ready at launch. i remember the walmart i got mine at had 6 in stock, like 4 60gb and 2 20gb.

What will matter is the sellthrough rate. I imagine it will be 100%, but then you have 2nd and 3rd shipments.

I don't think gaining those parts/"yellow things" are what increased his size. Those parts appeared to fill those circular gauges, which allowed him to use powerful moves. He gained an extra layer that increased his size when he entered the cave area, which provided an extra health bar. Didn't stop the player from dying though. :p

Pre orders at amazon don't cost anything and people can cancel any time. If you pre order at best buy they keep charging your card until you pick it up so your line of credit is lowered by the amount. But you can also cancel anytime too.

I'm more interested in raw sales at release. I'm all ready though got all my games ordered and I'll hopefully have time to pick it up that Friday after work.

PS3 during holiday season had around 800,000 world wide, and that was due to shortages. 1 million preorders seems a lot lower than I expected.

This season Sony and Microsoft should easily sell-through every console they can get on shelves. There are a core group of gamers with enough cash to get these things that are willing to pay that $399/$499 price, but they are not infinite.

I think numbers from this holiday season will only tell us one thing : how many they manufactured.

Where things will truly get interesting is Q1 '14 numbers. I'll go ahead and predict that they will be even worse than Q1' '06 and Q1 '07 were respectively for Sony and Microsoft back then. Sales post-holidays were utterly flatlined, and I think this time will be even worse.

Outside of people with stable careers and the 1%, the economy is fairly terrible right now, and for the console maker's target markets they are downright horrendous :

1 million preorders 3 months out from your product release is a lot lower than expected? Nearly any company would wish for that with their product.

I think I'm going to cancel my ps4 preorder. I just don't think the games that will be out for launch or in the near future afterwards look that cool. :/

Get whatever system you are comfortable with. After building my pc none of the console games made me go wow this plays or looks really good. They all looked the same haha.

But it's just the launch, it's how it is. Will there be another game like the last of us? Maybe. I think Xbox and halo though are big enough to ensure people though. Personally I hated all the halo games. It just felt milked after halo 2. Game wise, they can be fun I just grew out of it.

Having a good gaming pc hasn't made me that all excited for console games anyway, I'm just getting one for the games that my friends can't get on computer and exclusives like uncharted, last of us, heavy rain. I know ps4 will have something that will be great in the future.

These launches will be the best in a long time. Definitely better than the previous gen. A little over 20 games available for each is awesome. Granted there are some crossovers but those look good too. There are a lot of really awesome titles coming day one. Whether you have a PC or not you cannot say that the launch games will be bad or mediocre. Watch Dogs, battlefield 4 etc are all looking killer. You may play these on the PC but that doesn't change the fact that this launch for both systems is looking good.

There are a lot of games unavailable on PC that I am really looking forward to. Some of them may come to PC but I don't want to play a lazy port or even wait 6 months or more hoping it will show up. I do like playing on PC with AA and higher resolution etc. That does not mean I ignore all the stuff that I can't play there. That is just silly.

I'm still excited to see what the future brings. I just preferred the Sony type games which is what made my decision. If Xbox 1 was the same exact price I would have a harder time deciding but as they say people usually stick with what they know.

to be honest, i think 360 had a better launch than the current ones are. i think a lot had to do with it being the only "next gen" console at it's time though. cod2, kameo, pdz, pgr3, nfs:mw ... all of those games owned hard (at the time, although i was personally disappointed with pdz i know a lot of people who loved it). but i think this current launch has great games too, it's just not as exciting to me since many of the games are multiplatform.

anyways, i got an email from amazon overnight saying the delivery date of my ps4 has changed from 12/31 to 11/15 so it looks like they got the memo from gamescom too.
