Yeah Wal-Mart employees are usually clueless and often give wrong information. Who knows what may happen there. Half the time they aren't even aware of what's in stock. Many times I've gone to buy simple toothbrush heads for my electric toothbrush and 3 times in a row the shelves looked the same as before, nothing stocked.

I know the Nintendo rep for my area has problems with some Walmart stores. They release new systems and games on Sunday which is different from the rest of the industry. One store didn't put out a new 3ds color for 2 weeks. He asked them and they had no clue...he knows they have them cause he gets that info prior to his store visit.
 
The article about demand being met should only bother those who are thinking about pre ordering now. Most places I know around me still are doing them but one gamestop said they weren't doing any more.

Of course I guarantee all consoles Xbox and ps4 will be sold out on launch day. I will be checking eBay to see how much they go for but I may not want to sell mine as it could be a while before I would be able to get another. I'd be sitting home with a ps3 and ps4 games lol.

Yeah, with eBay fees and PayPal fees, if I can't sell either system for like $800+, I won't be bothering with eBay. I might check CL and go lower though.
 
If you could sell it for double what you paid, that would be nice but I don't think people will be that willing to pay that much. I could see it selling for 100 bucks more or maybe 150-200 if someone was utterly desperate. For that amount it would not help me anyway.

You obviously didn't sell Wiis around Christmas 2006.
 
i sold a launch 360 for $1700 + $100 for overnight shipping.

the best part is it was a 360 that i won. i actually won 2 360's lol. bought 2 also. made $3000 selling 3 of them, after ebay/paypal fees.

Nope I never bought a Wii until two years after. Not for me for my siblings but when I lived with them I swear I used that thing more than them.

If that 360 got you $1700 I would love to see what the ps4 unopened with warchdogs, bf4, and cod ghost could reel in. I would be able to pay mine off and buy 2 more, one for me and another for my younger brother who probably won't get one unless my dad or I buy it for him.

360 was the pinnacle of reselling consoles. when ps3 came out so many people bought them JUST to flip them that the market crashed for it. i mean they still sold for a good amount, don't get me wrong, but nowhere near like the 360's did. i had 2 ps3's and ended up just returning them for that reason.

wii's on the other hand made a lot of money for people. i personally didn't get in on it, but i know people who did. it was the hype around it + the shortage of them that drove prices up. it was pretty easy to double your money on a wii initially.

i don't think that ps4 and x1 are going to be NEARLY as profitable on the aftermarket. the fact that 2 consoles are launching nearly at the same time, plus it seems they were able to start producing them much earlier, means that there will be less shortages and demand IMO. but hey it doesn't hurt to try it and just return it if you can't flip em. that is probably why i'm going to keep my ps4 preorder from amazon and see if i can flip it, and if not, just return it.

and selling bundles won't net you anything more, and would probably drive the overall profit down. games aren't what are scarce, consoles are.
 
The 360 wasn't a great launch either. I preordered my premium console and they only had arcades when I went to pick it up. Worked out for me though, because they gave me an HDD and a wireless controller with it. So, I got an extra wired controller that I still use.

I am going to watch the market and see if it spikes high to sell this year though. If it doesn't, I'll be happy with both. If it does, I will be happy with extra money.

That is just insane. Well done. Funny part is, those consoles probably died just out of warantee.
 
I sold Wiis for $200 over MSRP. I sold 3 before supply finally met up with demand. I spent many coldass mornings in December standing in front of BestBuy.

I worked at a Gamestop and we got a shipment once a week with 3 Wiis. And every day there were two guys who would show up at around 9:45 (we opened at 10) and wait for the UPS guy to arrive. If he had Wiis, they'd buy them. I scored a few, but I wasn't allowed to use any discount. =( I sold a few for over $700 with $100 overnight shipping on eBay.
 
I hope the market is okay for ps4. I have 5 pre-ordered for launch day. I'm hoping that I'll be able to cover the cost of my xb1 and a ps4.
 
Any word on when MLB The Show 14 will be released for the PS4? I've looked but could not find anything. I want to play a baseball game but I'm waiting for the next consoles.

Oh. That means no baseball game to play for another 10 months or so? I was going to buy the PS3 just to play some sports games, especially baseball, but then decided to just wait for the new consoles. This means I will have to play Madden and NBA till then.

I imagine by next spring they will bring out an MLB game. Although they have pretty much stated which games are in release que for the year.

look what they get paid, why should they give a crap about knowing anything about the products Wally sells. If I worked there I wouldn't bother to inform myself of whats in stock either much less tell any customer much if I did know much about a product.

Not only that but there are employees there with full time hours and still on welfare and food stamps. That place is cheap for everything but it's a horrible place to work. Not a care in the world about it's employees. It's pretty much pure corporate evil.

Pretty much true for any chain big box store. The employees get paid peanuts and have zero vested interest in how the company does. Not to mention getting abused by both management and power tripping customers all day. And people wonder why the service in those places sucks.

GameStop gets hassled a lot. Yes, they are just a fancy pawn shop that charges too much for used games. However, most of their staff do seem to be gamers themselves. Plus it's all they sell. I'd rather buy there than from the box stores.

That said there are 180 games in development or something with 30 coming next year? Is that right? Anyway not every game was named.
