Yep my store got one box which I believe is something like 60 copies, I don't remember. Anyway they only had 3 total out of that box that were not pre-orders.

They said that sometimes happens. Sometimes they even get just one copy if nobody pre-orders.

Also I didn't see this mentioned but the PS4 firmware v1.75 is live and it enables 3D Blu-Ray support. I don't know if this would allow me to replace my stand alone player...still no media remote for PS4. Anyone have any info on this? Is it full 1080p playback with full lossless bitstream support or is it somehow limited like the PS3 where you could not bitstream in 3D or whatever it was?

Edit: Well, I answered my own question through testing. The PS4 will bitstream DTS-HD MA when watching a 3D Blu-Ray at 1080p. The disks load an average of 5-10 seconds slower than my stand alone player. Audio and Video quality is the same between them since I have my stand alone player set to bitstream and not to adjust any video prior to output. It has options to change the RGB scale etc but I leave everything set to off or neutral. Aside from some very slight pausing between chapter skips I didn't notice any problems.

So now it becomes a question of whether or not there will ever be a media remote for the PS4 or if I will forever have to use my DS4 for play/pause/rewind etc. Also if the 10 seconds extra loading is a bit deal if I can consolidate my devices. It's not much of a difference and usually when the disk is loading I'm grabbing a drink and maybe a snack anyhow. I don't need a stand alone in another room, I don't have a 3D TV outside the game room. The XB1 also will not bitstream lossless audio like TrueHD or DTS-HD MA. It converts it to LPCM and then outputs that. I'd rather let my AVR handle the decoding and add the room correction etc. I believe it to be superior to LPCM out from the player.

What's everyone's thoughts? My Stand alone isn't an Oppo or high end unit like that.

Wow my game stop actually did not have any last of us copies left for ps4. I placed a hold this morning at work and picked it up tonite. They said everyone has been coming in looking for it. Five people behind me wanted a copy but I got the last one since I did the online hold thing.
Mine as well. But they let me get the Digi code for $25 bucks so I jumped on that. I mean I am not one to trade in games anyways, this one was only A.) so I didn't spend another $50 on TLOU and B.) since again I was trading in the game for a better version of that.

Yea if you got the digital code its good enough. I can say the mp is pretty cool it's tactical and kind of rough. All other players had better weapons so I got killed right away.

I played the story again and the textures are great at 60fps the game runs smooth. I didn't notice any stutter or slow down. The game looks great. It's not as shiny as infamous in some areas but it's made to look post apocalyptic anyway. It really does show a quality improvement.

It's like the first time I'm playing it again. Even though I finished it a long time ago on ps3 I feel as if I'm experiencing the story again. Shadows are nice and the lighting is pretty decent too. For $25 it is a beck of a deal.

I don't really have any blu Ray girls other than what came with my ps3 as a rebate from a long time ago. I don't own a 3d tv either so I can't comment much on the update.

Now that we have a functional update maybe the media features will come.

I think it's hilarious that an 8 year old console handles media playback better. Something tells me we aren't going to get a remote. At least not anytime soon. Be nice if they updated the iOS and Android app for remote control functions. Then I could just do it from my tablet like with XBMC.

The original PS3 couldn't bitstream HD audio, the newest model can't do bitstreaming of Dolby TrueHD when playing 3D Blu-Ray but rather converts everything to normal Dolby Digital. Sony's FAQs state they updated it to support DTS-HD MA but not TrueHD for some reason. The PS4 does both of those perfectly now. Other things I don't care much about, I can push things from my PC or Phone to the TV easily.

An update for the app would be great for that actually. To be able to control your PS4 playback that way would make things easier for me.

I don't see why they can't add a remote function in the ps app similar to the one you have to scroll through the ps4 interface on your phone. It should not be that tough.

Target currently has a deal going on where if you buy stuff worth $40 or more via their website for pick-up in-store, you get $10 off. So, you can get The Last of Us: Remastered for $39.99.

EDIT:

If you add a cheap filler, you should also be able to use the $5 off $50 coupon in addition to that. It's the 4th deal on this page: http://slickdeals.net/coupons/target/

Maybe someone else had better luck than I but at first I couldn't even get it to show the game as available for store pick-up. Then once I got that fixed no matter what I did I couldn't get the additional $5 off by adding the filler item. Probably because it says it can't be combined with any other offers.

yea I still use my PS3 as a BR player because of the remote, i don't care about 3D and it covers all the audio codecs fine

The Fat ones couldn't but the Slim can, unless we're just talking 3D.

I'm not Canada . . . so is that a Canadian exclusive thing then? I might wait until the inevitable Uncharted 4 bundle then.

Why wait? That bundle is priced the same as if you bought the game and system separately. And it doesn't even include a physical game, it's just a download code, so you can't even trade it in when you're done. I imagine future bundles will be the same.

I didn't know they are doing this now. Including the code and not the disc. I guess it's a way to stop people from selling things individually or if it were stolen for example you can't just take the disc and sell it.

Game stop had my finger print scanned and I had to sign when trading in my ps3 copy. Basically for the same reason.

WTFBBQ. They didn't do that for me.

It varies by state and county. In my county trading in products is treated the same way a pawn shop would be. The same records must be kept and you have to be 18 or older to do a trade-in.

Best buy does a digital thumb scan into the computer, GameStop uses the old ink pad on a form you sign. They also take your driver license number down.

Anybody have problems with their PS4 where the PS4 wouldn't eject disk? The console also continuously tries to eject a nonexisting disk. This happens intermittently and is usually solved if I completely turn the console off, unplug for a couple of minutes and plug back in. It is the same problem described here.
I have the extra gamestop warranty but was not sure whether I should take it in or not since it doesn't happen all the time. Do they just swap the console itself or do I need to bring in the entire package (box, manuals, controller, etc.). And do they swap it for a brand new one?

Thanks

Well I live in Livonia Mi and here it was a new local city issue. But yeah same story, considered a Pawn shop, need to be over 18. Cept this game stop had special USB thumb printer scanner. But most of the states don't consider trading in for in store credit to be "pawning".

I had a similar, if not the same, issue. Posted a few pages back. Turn off for a while or tighten/loosen the eject screw is how I've dealt with it. Haven't had the issue since the last time I tightened the screw (few weeks now). In my case, it wouldn't let me load a CD.

They can swap the console only if everything else is working. I'd leave it for now and see if it happens a lot and then consider using the warranty.

Sony announced next month's PlayStation Plus games (NA).

PS4: Road Not Taken, Fez
PS3: Crysis 3, Proteus
Vita: Metrico, Dragon's Crown

Personally, I'm looking forward to Dragon's Crown out of those!

Yeah, I wonder if Target caught on to the game qualifying for their promotion, and they disallowed it for In-Store Pickup. If I browse to the game on my phone using Target's app, it even says "In-Store Pickup Eligible". However, when you add it to your cart, it will not let you. 🙁
