Any reason why we can't have threads about the individual games? You can get them separately, right, so no reason to make everyone post in the Orange box threads - or am I wrong about that?

Oh man!!! This game rocks! It's fun and it's hilarious! I love the little turrets and the things they say! The voice that talks to you during the game is great too. Just funny little things. I've laughed out loud several times already.

I'm on like 16 or 17/19. I hope there are more than 19 maps? please tell me yes!

It has a bit of a learning curve but I was getting the hang of it by the 4th or 5th map. It's definitely a puzzle game. It takes some thinking and it also has some timing puzzles. I don't like the ones that require timing so much. It can ruin your progress.

They need to make a run or sprint key so you can move faster, although, that might affect how you complete the puzzles. Hmm...it sucks when you have to walk halfway across the map to redo something and then walk back though.

I also wish the music played constantly. None of that in and out stuff. Sounds like some pretty cool and relaxing music also, from what I've heard. As long as there's tons of maps, I think this game will keep me busy for a long time!

beat the game, but the challenges are damn tough. How do you do any of the ones with shorten steps? I can't even come close

i know the answer to that one ... they are now allowing as many threads as the forum itself will stand ... which means if i want to make another identical thread about Portal, i am now free to do so :p

so ... yeah ... go for it ...

i just started Portal and it would have been a lot more cool if i had not played Prey ... yeah it's "different" ... but ...
.. and i am not so crazy about puzzles ... damn Ep2 still won't load.:|

yeah portal was awesome. Pretty cool to look at ones self though!

and there are some 'bonus' maps that get unlocked as you go along. Haven't gotten to those yet, but I did beat it. Gets tougher at the end. I was kind of disappointed in how short it was, but eh it wasn't meant to be long anyways. Hopefully the community will embrace it and put out some cool maps!

There are a lot of awesome quotes

"Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said 'goodbye' and you were like 'no way'
and then I was all 'I was just pretending to murder you'? That was great!"

The enrichment center promises to always provide a safe testing environment. In dangerous testing environments,
the enrichment center promises to always provide useful advice. For example, the ground will kill you, avoid it.

Test protocol requires me to inform you that you must absoutely not touch the liquid
substance below you. Doing so will leave an unsatisfactory mark on your personnel file, and kill you instantly.

so there's only 19 levels plus the bonus levels you unlock? how many bonus levels? i'm guessing not many?

Aren't they asking $20 for Portal by itself? Man, I spent maybe 2 hours on the game and I'm almost done with the main portion of it. I would say its definitely not worth it unless you got the Orange Box. Way too much money for so short a game.

It's still extremely fun though.

there is 19 levels and bonus levels, but the final level is really long and there really is a lot more than just the 19. I'd say at least 3 levels added. Plus the challenges and advanced board are tough.

I just hope they allow users to make their own puzzles with this.

played through most of them. I am stuck on number 18. I tried to go to bed, but the addictive qualities of portal refused to let me do so!

If you're in the huge room, you gotta find a way to get the cube that's off on that far ledge. Take the cube and place it on the red button that's in the room you came in from.

How well would this game run on a mid-range system?

- X2 Opteron @ 2.75Ghz
- X850XT 256MB
- 2GB RAM

The minimum requirements from the Steam page seem fairly low for a new game.

That should be fine, Portal is not the most cutting edge when it comes to graphics, its all about the gameplay. Good Stuff.

Just finished Portal.

BEST. FINAL. BOSS. EVAR!!!!!

LMAO! I was laughing the whole time I was fighting it! The end song is hilarious too! I want an MP3 of that song! Actually, I want MP3s of all of the dialog in the game, lol.

I clapped when it was finally over. First game to ever make me clap because I liked it so much!

If it wasn't so late (for me) I'd dig into the bonus maps. They'll have to wait for tomorrow though.

I may take back everything I said about it not being worth $20. I think I'd pay $20 to go through that. Very good game. Simple but exciting and most importanly, extremely fun! Something most games lack these days.

The end boss alone fight alone is worth $20, IMO :D

It has a very Nintendo-ish feel, but coupled with hilarious, hysterical dialog.
