I bought one a month ago, but haven't really played it much since (came with Zelda and a racing game).

It was fun playing with a group of people, but I am going to sell mine once Anandtech allows them to be sold here. Don't feel like dealing with Ebay and it's fees (plus I am not selling it to make a profit).

 
Don't sell it. Get some of the great VC games. Having LOZ:TT, SM64 and now SMB on the same system should never be sold.
 
WOOT!!!!!! Got my fiancee the wii and 4 extra games for xmas:
1) Legend of Zelda
2) Marvel's Ultimate Alliance
3) Rayman
4) Trauma Center --> At first I thought it would be cheesy, but he really wanted it so I got it: the surgery game ROX!!!!!!!!!!!

So does Rayman so we've heard, but his roommate disappeared with the game and we haven't gotten a chance to play... BOO
 
I have a question about controllers:

Do GC games HAVE to be played with GC controllers or can I play them with a remote or Classic controller?

gc games have to be played with the gc controller. virtual games can be played with the remote (if its a nes or another old old old school game), gc controller, or the classic controller.

I just got my Wii hooked up to the internet and I had a couple of questions.

I'm trying to connect to the Wii Shop but it's just sitting at the Connecting screen. I'm assuming this is because it's the day after Christmas and everyone is hammering the servers. Can anyone else connect? I was able to connect and download two updates, I just can't get into the Shop Channel.

I also tried using the News Channel and it said that my software needed to be updated. I said to let it update, but when it went to do the update it said that I already have the latest version. Has anyone experienced this?

huh, weird about the Shop. Don't have mine with me now, but we connected & downloaded SMB in about 30 secs yesterday.

The News Channel isn't available yet, I think it will be available sometime in January.
 
i got Metal SLug Anthology today. About to put it in.

I also picked up Ikaruga at Gamestop used ($40, fvckers) but thats about the price, if not more, its going for on Ebay. I hear nothing but great areviews about this game.



omg metal slug is hard but its funa as hell

Well I just went back to try the Shop Channel again and it was working just fine, d/ling SMB right now. Now all I need is help with fishing in Zelda.

Can someone tell me how to catch the fish that I need to get for that cat at the very beginning of the game. I cast my line in the water, pull back slightly till I get the fishes attention, and when I see the line being tugged at I pull it out of the water. This has caught me no fish so far, so is there something I am missing?
 
Well christmas is over and my arm is sore as hell from playing Madden. Great great game. The difficulty levels are kinda screwy but everything else is GREAT. I love the interaction you get.

Also.....my aunt and uncle bought one for not only their kids but themselves, which is comical since my Aunt has ALWAYS been about as anti-video game as Jack Thompson, yet she LOVES the Wii.

And other strange note is my 70 yr old grandpa is going to buy a Wii in january. He wants it for the sports games mostly.
 
HOLY HELL! Ikaruga is harder than hell! how are you supposed to play this game??? i made it to stage 2 but omg, there is no way to pass it.

Try changing the AI settings in the Gameplay options. I had to tweak mine a couple of times. On Pro I could run 250 yards a game, On All Madden I couldn't run 20 yards. So I just tweaked those AI settings.

wait till the green part is submerged. Then yank back.

it is a very hard game, it took me dozens of tries to even beat it on easy using all my continues. I didn't do that until about a year after I got it, just becuase it was so hard at first that I gave up and put it away for 8 or 9 months.
basically it takes a lot of practice, eventually you will have it memorized or at least remember what you need to do to not die. There is a practice mode where you can go through sections at like half speed I think. That can be helpful.

And wow, who knew that game would become such a tough find, I got it a couple years ago for $15 used at ebgames.

I am in the same boat. Every place I call says they have no idea when they are getting more in.

I have heard rumors that there will be a bunch released on Dec. 31.
 
Slightly OT. I can't find a DS Lite to save my life.

Back on topic, I picked up Madden 07. I kind of like the controls after you get used to them.
