It looks like camping will be my only choice :(
And if I happen to overhear someone in line talking about ebaying it, I will try hard to resist the urge to spit in their face.

I swear I'm buying you a round at the bar when you finally get one.

I would sell a PS3 on ebay if I managed to get one... but that's more because there isn't anything interesting to me on the console. The Wii however, I'd keep to play Zelda!

I remember when I first played final fantasy X - that was definitely an experience...the cinemas and voice acting added so much to the game. And zelda would only even need a fraction of voice to do the job. Instead we just hear babbling...such a shame.

Me and my friends can always have a good laugh about how zelda tp handles voice acting. Its pretty funny with the single worders and grunts and funny noises. We also all agree that its the thing that turns us off of the game.

Can they even fit that kind of content onto a wii game? Isnt it a proprietary format or something. I wonder what the capacity is like. It also kind of sucks that the wii doesnt play DVDs. I just read somewhere that they are going to release a version in Japan that will, seems kinda cheesy, they should have just made it standard :(

I agree, the voice acting in zelda... wtf were they thinking?!?!? should have been all or nothing. Or... an option for internet folk. have the voices stream.. heh, ok, that's a bad idea.

As for DVD's... they just didn't want to pay the licensing regarding it. I'm 99% confident that nintendo could just release a paid "DVD chanel" along w/ a firmware update and we'd have a dvd player. Imagine using the wiimote to point at your menus :)

But still no digital out port. I'm surprised that wasn't standard. Then again, if you plan on watching DVDs on your Wii, you probably wont even know what that port is for.

I emailed Nintendo about the Wii getting hot when it is off but the Wiiconnect is turned on. This was their response"

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Nintendo. We would like to speak with you further about your concerns.

Please call 1-800-448-6797 and ask to speak with a Product Support Specialist. We are available every day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific time. However, should we happen to be on another call, please leave a voice mail message with your name and phone number.

Thank you for your time. We look forward to talking with you.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
Christie Hamilton

I don't know if this is just a canned response or if they are actually interested. I'll try calling next week when I have time.

Well... I turned my system off from the power last night so then it could cool down a bit. I used a thermometer, and the sucker was at 40C! I don't want my Wii frying, then not be able to get another 1 for a few days :(

In all the pictures I see, the wii has a blue light from the disc slot. How do I get that light to turn on? It flashes for 1/4 of a second when I first power it up, then goes off again.

Nintendo has had capacity excuses for their past two systems - N64 and ~64MB carts vs. 600MB+ CDs and GC and 1.5GB discs vs. ~8.5GB discs. Twilight Princess isn't exactly a true Wii title, its an upgraded GameCube one. But still, Nintendo is kinda slacking on this one.

It's such a copout...I just don't understand. Honestly, there are probably droves of talented voice actors who would be knocking their doors just to get the chance to do it for free...capacity is such a absurd excuse...if compressed, you could fit all the dialogue in under 20mb or less.

it only comes on when you start up and then goes away and it comes on when it downloads stuff off th enet. i don't think there is a way to make it stay on.

Yep, ordered my straps. Great move, Nintendo. Pissed me off that I couldn't pick my registered system from my My Nintendo account though, had to crawl into my entertainment console again to copy it off my Wii.

haha, I was thinking the same!

As for the straps, I ordered new ones just two days ago because of the rumors they "upgraded" them... blast. Oh well, I ask for some replacements too. It was only $4. I just threw them in the order because I wanted another sensor bar.

It's cool they're beefing up the strap, but I still believe that if you break one of these, you are playing WAY too hard.

Send a message to yourself or have a friend do it, and then never read it. Your light will stay on all of the time.

BD2003, you did indeed just miss the compass and map for that dungeon. I did it last night myself.

Anyone pick up Rayman Raving Rabbids? I can't figure out how to aim the "ball" in the minigame "Bunnies Can't Play Soccer". I've tried using the remote before the kick, during flight, and nothing seems to work.

I sure do love the on-rails shooting minigames, though.

And engadget(or was it joystiq?) had an article on someone modding it to use the blue bars in-sync with the consoles sound.
