Tried and failed to grab the 120GB OCZ SSD @ the Egg for $50, wasn't quick enough. Picked up an Asrock Extreme3 AM3+ mobo for $69 and an 8GB kit of Ripjaws DDR3 1600 for $25. Meh.

I got in on the 39" Insignia 1080P LED LCD TV from BestBuy, on Thanksgiving day online thanks to a friend. ($249.99 + tax, FS)

Didn't seem to be such a bad deal, but it has no-where near the inputs of my 32" Westinghouse 720P TV. Then again, that TV cost nearly $500 years ago.

I saw that, looking for some reviews or Youtube videos to see if it's n00b friendly or not.

Lightroom is not exactly n00b friendly, but the learning curve is nowhere near as steep as with Photoshop itself. Simple things like browsing through your photos and organizing them with tags and such is pretty straight-forward. Messing around in Develop mode can take some practice, but the major adjustments (exposure, color temperature, crop) are easy. Plus, the "auto" functions (auto tone, auto white balance, etc.) are surprisingly good in LR4. A definite improvement over the previous versions.

It's money well spent. Just make sure you back up that catalog!

I guess that's a good deal. Is Lightroom 4 better than Lightroom 3? The "most helpful negative review" of Lightroom 4 at Amazon says it's waaaaay slower than Lightroom 3.

It's a very good deal. On my PC (i7 860, 16GB RAM, SATA II SSD), I never noticed a difference in performance when I upgraded. Lightroom does love RAM, though. So make sure you have plenty of that. Loading the catalog and previews off of an SSD is a boost as well.

Update: nabbed the Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD at the tiger for $59. Now I don't feel so bad for missing the OCZ deal at the egg on Friday.

New mobo, ram, and an SSD for ~$160. Not a terrible spending spree. I could still use some other upgrades as well (PSU, GPU) but none of them were absolutely necessary so they can wait. Enough self-gifting until after the holidays. :awe:
