Just bumping this thread with a quick Q.
If I bought it online, can I exchange my defective iPad at any Apple store? Or do I have to ship it back to Apple?

Take it back to Apple. I had a stuck pixel on mine when I bought it from Apple Online and swapped it in store after waiting only 5 minutes.

Cool. I'll go tomorrow. I've just heard about people getting hassled because of yellow screens, but then again theirs was the entire screen. Only 1/3 of mine is affected, which is obviously a defect.

What do I need to prove when I got it. Will it be in Apple's system? In other words, will I need to take anything with me? I have registered it to get it working.

I got it exchanged today for a new one. The store tried telling me to ship it back but ended up taking it anyway. This new one still seems a little yellow but nowhere near as bad as the last one. I guess it's their warmer tint.

I've noticed there's still a lot of complaints about it. Steve Jobs is barely cold and QC seems like its already gone out the window.

No. QC already went out the window last year with the iPad 2 when Steve Jobs was still in charge.

And the yellow screen is actually a Samsung's signature.

If you have owned any recent Samsung-screened device, you'll notice that pretty much all of them is... yellow-ish.

I have opened 4 iPad 2 so far. The 2 Samsung screens are the yellow ones. The non-yellow ones were from Sharp.

The 3 iPhone 4S I have opened also suffered from Samsung yellow-ness.

Heck, my Galaxy Nexus has a yellow tint by default. I have to recalibrate it to white.

Not sure why, but it seems someone at Samsung definitely needs to get their eyes checked.

I just did some RDP work this weekend on the iPad 3, and it was awesome. I set the screen res at 1024x768 so everything would be pixel doubled and it was really using it. Text and icons were sharp and clear, much more so than the iPad 1 or TouchPad I currently have.

Got mine replaced. Apple shipped another from China 2 day once I had given mine to FedEx.

Now I've got blue on the left and pink along the right. I also might have a piece of dust underneath the screen, but I'm trying *oh so* hard not to find it again nor think about it.
I'm calling it quits and just accepting this one. The stars have aligned this way for me. That or everyone is lying about their "perfect" iPads.
Works good enough for me. I wonder how long Apple will continue to replace these "defects" 2 out of 2......I don't know. As I said before it was easily identifiable in Anand's review model as well.

That's kind of surprising that they would take it back with only a single dead pixel. I don't think there's a single monitor that I've found that can be considered bad for anything more than 5 dead pixels!

Hardware aside, software is indeed improving nicely.

Shadowgun seems to have been updated with Retina Display support, so it's now running at native 2048 x 1536 resolution. Plus... I wonder if I'm reading this right, but on top of that, the developer is also boasting 4x MSAA!

Spent a full day exploring apps & just using iPad, I am very impressed, the screen is of course gorgeous but the apps are amazing. No forced closes, no freezing or random reboots of the device.

I read a couple magazines, watched PBS (love it) played Riptide, enjoyed a game of Air Hockey gold with my son, dictated some emails & dealt with some blog business, all very smoothly. Very happy with this device & it will get a lot of use here.

Yeah, mine is still annoyingly yellow, just all over now instead of one spot. Im tempted to take it back and exchange it again but what if they're all like this. I like the system itself but it's definitely the worst display I've seen on a mobile device. Resolution is fantastic but means nothing if color rendering isn't accurate. I'm surprised its a Samsung too. Their LCDs used to be some of the best. I'm almost tempted to ask for my money back. :\
