First modem was a 2600 baud modem (not 26k). So much fun (not) trying to figure out modem initialization strings from a tiny booklet (and they never listed all of them). No phones or laptops to find codes online, was simply a hit or miss proposition, where you might try many different combinations.

Even the smallest pic took forever to download; watch line after line appear slowly.

At the time I thought AOL was the shit. So much content before you even tried to go to other webpages. And then there was the sounds when you connected on dialup (which I want as my phone ring tone).

I think you mean 2400 baud...being you have an old Atari 2600/Sears joystick as a member pic...it's understandable.
