<< I played GT1 and 2 on playstation and hated them both. I couldn't stand the way the cars steered...blech. I'll wait for XBox/GC. >>

I never played GT or GT2 (well, for more than 2 minutes total), but have read much about them, and have been anticipating GT3 since 10/26/00 (along with the next MGS and FF). Now, I've played *many* racing games, from Mario Kart, to Need For Speed, to even a little of F1...so even though I heard of the steep learning curve, I expected it to be OK after a while.

Well, after getting the game yesterday morning (I got lucky ;p ), I spent the next 2 hours just in awe of of the graphics and how much "stuff" there is to do with regards to your car and such. So today I pick it up again, and for a good period of 2 hours, I almost decided I hated this game. The Miata I bought sucked...the amount of money you get for winning the early races was beyond measley...and I sucked. But I kept on going, and bought an Acura Integra Type R (heh..remember that guy in OT who had this car that everyone hated?) and left it at stock, since I had no funds left over (well actually I bought some ugly rims :p ). At first, the car was barely faster than my Miata, but after a couple races, I bought some good tires, lightened up the car one level, and bought two Turbo levels.

I absolutley love this game :D

I guess I got over "the hump" or the curve ;) The first 4 hours or so of this game were really slow. It was just frustrating. But now that I have a good car, and have upped my skills, this game is above all. And I'm only something like 8% complete!!!

Just a little tip for n00bs like me who might get frustrated at the start ;)

P.S. Besides turbo kits, what are some of the best upgrades to get?

Those who don't like the steering with the left and right buttons, theres the dualshock controls or the GT Force wheel (Same as the Logitech Wingman Force). I'm saving money for that now.. :D

Went from a MIata to an Integra Type R. NO clue what's next, but the cars you win so far, bleh ;)

"it is GT3 not GF3

GT3 is a game"

I assume he states that because he doesn't have the system in the first place :)

Cars I bought:

Eunos Roadstar (SOLD as soon as I got the WRX)
Subaru WRX STI
Acura Integra Type R
MB CLK55
New Beetle RSI
Audi TT
Toyota Vitz RS

That sums up the beginner's league.

ohhh i love this game already... RX-7 Rz, enough said :)

this game is seriously good. i know what'll be taking up all my time for the next couple of months, until the racing school in november. which by the way, if there is anyone in the NC/SC area that would like to attend the racining school at CMP race track, I'll get you some more information on it. This will be my second trip there, and it is a blast!

please lock this thread, I'm so close to buying a PS2 just for this game... :) But I don't think my wallet would forgive me. The problem is there isn't another PS2 game I'd be willing to pay for, so I guess buying the console wouldn't be a good buy.

Ahhhhh... played for about 4 hours last night. My roomie and I are sharing a garage until today (even though all we have is a souped-up Miata) when he's buying a new memory card for his separate garage. Then the fun begins... Lancer Evo, here I come!

Anyone notice that the Toyota MR2 is a real bitch to run against in the Clubman Cup?

Does this mean you can take a Logitech Wingman Force and plug it into the PS2? Been hearing stuff . . .

This does look fun as hell. The ability to rice out cars made me laugh when I read it in the review. If I could pick up a ps2, the wheel, and the game for $300, I'd be all over it.

Edit: I don't think you can use pc controllers on the ps2. It'd be cool as hell if you could, but they may use different voltages to keep people from trying. I could be wrong...

Beat the sunday cup a few more times, then throw a turbo on your current car... you will kick ass in the clubman cup

I've got Stage 1 turbo on the car... anything else and I'll be laying rubber on the road instead of going through turns.

2 stages of weight reduction, sport tires, and things worked out pretty well. I just need a few more laps on one course to get a real handle on it, and I'll be on my way again!
