has anyone had a problem with their invites disappearing from their gmail account before they could be sent out? I had six disappear from mine and six from my sons.

They didn't disappear, they just moved the invite link. It's now above the area that your incoming messages show up.

 
A friend of mine said that he got his invite from here. I thought it only fitting that I give some back even though I was an indirect recipient.
