I have 1 invite left to give. It goes out to the first person who quotes me who has left me Heat feedback in the past and who does not have any GMail accounts within their household as of yet (get an invite from whoever is in your household who already has an account within 36 hrs).

thanks

Is anyone still giving invites? I'd greatly appreciate an invite, since there is some competition for my first name.. although it's very uncommon. I don't know why that is, but I'd like to be first in line to get that name.

Thanks for any help.

has anybody else notice that the gmail wont allow you to send a message to multiple people from your contact list?

I was wondering what was up, so i emailed tech support 5 days ago. I just got this responce:
Hello,

Thank you for your message.

We apologize for the delayed response. Gmail is experiencing rapid growth.
We have been working hard to keep pace with the popularity of our service
while we respond to each individual message. Thank you for your patience.

While Gmail does not currently support the functionality to add multiple
address from the Contacts list, we are testing many new features to
improve the Gmail service. You might be interested to hear that we are
working on the following:

- Automatic forwarding of your email to another account
- Plain HTML version of Gmail
- Import/export Contacts

We hope you enjoy Google's approach to email.

Sincerely,

The Gmail Team

I appears that they dont even plan to fix this. so we need to hit them with some emails explaining that it is required.

try gmail-support@google.com

I was dissapointed to find that gmail was not setup to allow addressing of messages to multiple users via the contact list. Are there any plans to correct this situation? This is a feature that I, like many others, expect to see on any basic email service. Hopefully you'll be adding this simple feature in the near future.
anyway, something to that effect.

Wait, what do you mean? I have about 10 people in my contact list, and I can send a message to all of them...I think I'm just confused as to what you are saying.

The contact list is one of the things I'm not really feeling about Gmail. I like how other services will show you a list somehow and you just mark off the ones you want to send the email too. Gmail makes you start to type the persons name and it does an AutoComplete kind of thing. If you're sending out an email to several people at once, it seems like it'd be much faster to just mark off check boxes rather than having to begin typing in each persons name individually.

I am new to this forum and I have one question... how do you un"subscribe" to a thread... 😀

Answer this to get a more favorable chance 🙂

Anyone know of a fairly secure (i.e. encrypted) freeware way to secure and / or secure&zip a file to send to a 1Gb ( 😉 ) email box to allow yourself the ability to download critical files to a PC anywhere with an internet connection? PKZIP and WINZIP not an acceptable answer as both of these are easily cracked.

No immoral purposes - just a very useful backup repository.

5 available - PM me. Ready ready . . . GO!

Oh yes - make sure your email is in the PM . . . .

That defeats the whole purpose of gmail. The idea is to have a fully searchable 1GB of online storage, grouped emails, etc. You might as well use any other POP3 ISP without any difference.

At this point it would allow you a little more friendly contact management. That will probably change as the thing comes out of beta... I hope. But mostly I agree with you, Gmail is all about letting them mess with the "mess"ages.
