You could take away all forms of entertainment, TV, computer, video games for a serious period of time. A month?

Not sure if that'll work, as his parents are super-lenient (which makes it a nightmare for me to get him to listen to anything!)

You can show him the movie The Ring ... will scare the crap out of him. or pretend to be a serial killer or something.... heheh
