Line up the boxes, 1-12
Start with the first box and take out one can;
Go to the second box and take out two cans;
Go to the third box and take out three cans, and so on until taking 12 cans out of the 12th box.
This should result in 78 cans.

Weigh the cans. If they all weighed 12 oz, the result would be 936. If the result is less than 936, then the difference between the two is the box containing the lighter cans. For example, if the 11oz cans are in box two, then the resulting pile would weigh two ox lighter, 934.

Am I close?

could you stack one on top of the other on the scale (one at a time), and the one that adds less to the current weight is the 11oz.?

Take one can from 1st box, 2 from second 3 from third, etc....

total is all were 12 ounces would be 936 ounces

if one ounce less than box 1 is the one

if 2 ounces than its 2nd, if 3 than its 3rd etc.

do i win?

*darn*

I hid a gmail invite in one of my old posts in another thread from a while back, first person to dig up the thread and the post gets the invite.

Go to town 🙂

I don't think he deserves the win. In your riddle you said u can't lift the box or can. I think i deserve the invite for bringing this to your attention.
