How do anandtech polls work? Can only the thread creator make one? If so, will you add a pole to see how many people have had success versus not in getting an account set up through this thread?

Not a clue, but I was tempted to start reading all 51 pages of this thread just for the heck of it... but, since I'm at work, I'll just have to post one free Gmail Invite. Ooh ooh ooh, I wanna ask a question too (like SenorBiggles)! I will once my "Invite a friend to join Gmail!" link starts working again.

Actually I am not a newbie...I got locked out of my account and didnt feel like going through getting ahold of a moderator to get it unlocked, wasn't really a big deal. If you search through my posts you will find that I mentioned that on my first post.

Someone hook me up with an invite.

I've submitted my email at the bottom of the About Gmail page in the hopes I'll get an invite directly. Otherwise I guess it up to the goodwill and charity of ATers.

Don't let me down folks. 🙂
 
jesus i cant believe people are outbidding each other on gmail accounts on ebay. I keep bidding on 99cent auctions and theres a thousand of them and ppl outbid me by a max of $5. Anyways, i finally managed to get one for $1.

I did that few months ago and didn't get any invites. I got an account through the goodness of AT ppl.

Here's the deal. I only have one invite left. I will give it to the person who sends me the best background to use on my home theater computer running myHTPC. I will pick a winner at 10 pm (3 hours from now) tonight. Custom backgrounds welcome, although it doen't have to be. Need it to be 800 x 600. send to theslacker<at>gmail<dot>com.

In Battlefield 1942, if you fall from an incredibly high distance (edit: clarification - bailing out of an airplane, not falling from a tower or off a roof), what two sounds do you make and in what order?

Edit: Hint - Don't open chute after you eject. Freefall for awhile, a long while... then prepare to laugh.
