Crap... How can we lock down this thread to registered members? I suppose we could post the new gmail account the person created to SPAM the hell outta of it, UNLESS people response and say thanks? What do you think?

There is nothing worse than uncontributing lurkers. I wish that if you didnt keep a consistent post count your account would be banned to get rid of the lurkers

What is a consistent post count though? Some people just don't want to post unless they have something worthwhile to say...plus you don't need to log in to read the forums, so that won't stop lurkers.

After someone takes it, edit your message so you don't keep getting PM's

i think there should be a line or queue and whoever get invited will invite those further down the line. that way lurkers can't/won't post to join this 'line'

Or you can do first post after a gmail offer gets PMEd the code

or make it fun like I'm thinking of a number between 1 - 10 , first person to post it get the code

or even better, first person to post a pic of "insert something funny here" gets a code

either way, lurkers can't post..

Its the public lurkers that are the main problem. They dont even have an account and they are seeing this thread.
 
I'm going with the PM, at least for me.

ALL of you people that now have GMAIL accounts or had GMAIL accounts, WILL get invites sometime. Usually, it's within the first day or two.

Hey thanks, I got one from a friend that was able to get one from GmailSwap... So if we get any they will be given here. I saw ppl talking above about lurkers (someone quoted me I think)! I will not be one as much anymore! Im out of school now... Its time to have fun here at Anandtech! I'm gunna have to get to the real computer talk outside the Hot Deals

I got the Gmail accout this morning from random numbers. I'll keep checking my account to see if any invite and if i got i'll share them here.

Funny thing is my first offer was my Florida vote for pres, which got deleted, but some kind sole saw it and emailed me an account. Of course, i'll reciprocate once i get some invites.
