What's up the everybody bashing NewEgg. Yeah yeah they are charging a lot for the new Core 2 Duo's but what you are doing is unnecessary and uncalled for.

If nobody complains, then it sends the message that overcharging is ok. Even though NewEgg has higher prices on the Core 2 chips, they still will sell out, because 1) Some unsavvy consumers simply TRUST newegg to have a fair price and don't browse elsewhere (and in this case that trust is being violated), and 2) Businesses that have corporate accounts with NewEgg will simply pay it. IT managers don't care that it costs more because it's not coming out of their pocket.

We, the enthusiasts, are the watchdogs of this industry. Without word of mouth (forums, review sites, etc) the online vendors could do whatever they want.

Does this mean I will no longer shop from NewEgg? Of course not, they've had my business before and will have it again. But I don't have to kiss thir a$$ either.

Overcharging is a misnomer. People freely choose to enter into the transaction. Newegg is offering a product at a certain price. Other places offer it cheaper perhaps but in free enterprise newegg who is NOT is a monopoly position may choose to offers its wares at any price it wants.

Tigerdirect does indeed have the E6700 in stock. I was concerned about the warranty, so I called customer service. They assured me the retail version came with a 3 year warranty. I placed my order and should have it by Monday, Tuesday at the latest...

Ok, I see that TigerDirect shows the E6600 (and 6700) retail version in stock. However, it says that the weight is 0.1 lbs. That can't be right. So, I called. The sales guy said that they did NOT come in today, but they are expected tomorrow. He also said that it is definitely the retail version if the number starts with CP1. He then said that they would eat the extra shipping cost due to the mistaken listing on their Web site.

I want to order, badly, but I'm not sure that I can trust his "tomorrow, for sure" promise. He must have received a lot of calls about this because he seemed to be very familiar with it.

Per dictionary.com:

v. o·ver·charged, o·ver·charg·ing, o·ver·charg·es
v. tr.
1. To charge (a party) an excessive price for something.

I'm not saying that a company can't charge what they want for their product, but when you're charging significantly more than your competition you should expect your customers to complain.

The point is if people are willing to pay and are not coerced by a monopoly position or collusion etc then I would not call it excessive.

ZZF's prices on the 6400 and 6300 are going lower by the day.
For what I recall, yesterday's price on 6400 went down to 269 but today check THIS out!

That is common, especially for ZZF. Expect to see E6300's and E6400's going for roughly, $199 and $249 respectively, within a few weeks.

Out of stock, 7-10 days again 🙁

"The point is if people are willing to pay and are not coerced by a monopoly position or collusion etc then I would not call it excessive."

Computer hardware forums aren't the best place to try to develop moral critiques of chirpy market fetishism. Compared to other commodities, these are more or less luxury goods. Things would potentially look very different if you were, say, trying to argue that farmers could ship grain anywhere they want to even though people in the next town are starving and too poor to pay top dollar. The farmers aren't necessarily monopolists, and the buyers aren't necessarily monopsonists. Unless you're into "let 'em starve" morality, market principles lose out. (The Brits argued this in response to 19th century famines in India. Part of the deal was that they wanted to keep those tax revenues from the transactions.)

Anyhoo, I'm going to wait for my 6600. Newegg can sell to the (likely) well-monied and they won't go to hell.

I guess I'm "well-monied" and impatient. I bit the bullet and paid the $459 that Newegg is asking for the E6600. They had then in stock, and I really want this build complete by the end of next week, so I pulled the trigger.

Hey Nightmare it looks like you wanna go with the second P5W DH. The first one is newly added and I don't know what the Green after theWIFI is. The first one also only has a 1 year warranty, although both prices fit the range for the P5W DH. Your new gaming rig sounds almost exactly like the one thats shipping (in parts) to me, with the exception of the E6600 (I went with the E6700) and memory. =)

You might want to check out the Gigabyte DQ6. With their beta BIOS F3E people are hitting 545MHz FSB (thats 2180MHz PSB!). Totally sick! I just got one and slapped a 6300 in it. I am now waiting for my Corsair PC6400 C4 memory before pushing 500MHz +

I got mine from eWiz for $245 with free shipping and it was here (Seattle) in two days.

Hey guys,

not big news BUT:

ShopBLT has lowered their retail e6600 and e6400 by about $5 bucks, i preordered last week when they were 349, now they are 344.

just alittle update.

><><>< edit: i emailed BLT, they said "ANY preorders already gone through, will get their prices adjusted to whatever the online price is at shipping."

it'd be cool, but not, if they were delayed awhile, the price dropped 20 bucks, and we all got our e6600's at a better price. * daydreaming *

Tigerdirect doesn't/didn't have the retail 6600's in stock. I placed an order yesterday when they showed in stock, but when I checked today it was backordered. I called, and the salesperson said they were all backordered, they hadn't received any, and they didn't know when they were getting them.

I cancelled my order, so still waiting.

545 FSP!!?!? O_O That's killer, much better than the P5W board. So, it should be much better at overclocking than the ASUS? I'd probably be able to get my E6600 over 4 GHz, right?
However, if I can't find it, ill be grabbing that one off etech4sale.

Arrrrg... What's with TD? It was clearly saying on the site it was in stock when I ordered. And now, for I submitted my order, they say it is all out of stock?! What kind of stock tracking system do they have?

I cancelled my TigerDirect order this morning and ordered from ClubIT. Status says "Order complete." I assume that means it has been shipped?

Doh, Don't see it in stock anymore at ClubIT.

I called a ton of local stores today, and some of them have had it in stock. It just goes out really fast. I need to start calling them a few times a day.

I agree but these are discressionary goods. No-one needs a conroe and other alternatives are available for those who choose ; ableit inferior. Again the farming example is different as there is a cost associated with starvation and social unrest. But I feel to see how society is worse off if Jimmy from LA gets a conroe rather than Jack from NY.
