Nope, if I did I probably wouldn't be waiting to buy a Core 2. And really, what 90% of people plan to do or whether there's a preference for OEM vs. retail has no bearing on the fact that the launch of retail models was announced, and there aren't any. Do you work for Intel, or just like to complain when you see other people complaining?

No Core 2 Duos? ZipZoomFly has the E6300 and E6400, Clubit has the E6600 and NewEgg had the E6700 and has the X6800. They are late and pricey which makes for a crapy launch but far from a paper launch.
 
AHHH which mobo for my fresh x6800 that is soon to be here? planning to go crossfire but it s not top priority... gigabyte.. or asus... bah.....

I had the same concern. I ordered my P5W DH today, and right after I placed my order, I called ASUS. They didn't answer so I left a message saying that I wanted to use a Core 2 chip and if they could please send me the latest bios. I got a call back in about an hour, she took down my address and they're sending a free updated bios chip in the mail.

When you call, press 0 and ask for the bios department.

My $335 E6600 that I ordered on 7/27 from Monarch just shipped today. If anyone ordered around the time I did from Monarch, your stuff might be coming soon.
 
Anyone find where the ASUS p5b MOBO is in stock? i've got everything else "found" for my new Core 2 Duo rig, just need this baby.

ZipZoomFly has both deluxe and regular in stock. I just got my P5B deluxe from them yesterday. Reasonable price + free shipping (or $2 2nd day).
 
ZZF also just got in stock a pretty sizeable quantity of DFI infinity 975X/G boards for people looking for a crossfire solution. Good price too, at $195 free shipping.

Thay said the same thing about 2 weeks ago about the E6600s. I was told that they were getting a shipment of 150 e6600 and i was 130 in line. I ordered on 07/27 and that my order should be shipping on 7/31. What a bunch of crap. I ended up canceling a week later cause i could not take all the BS. We'll see if what they told u holds tru. Seems like the same song and dance to me tho.

Yep. Just called TD and they told me ETA for e6700 is now MONDAY. Poo.
 
Still sticking with SHOPBLT.COM, im 300th in line, but its already up to 700, they rep there, when i emailed him, said he is confident that a 8/16 date a shipment will arrive, i hope at least 500 shipment so ill be happy.

wait and see.
 
Seriously, I'm dying. All my parts are shipped except the cpu. I'm currently on a Pentium3-800 and I have a huge video project due next Friday. INTEL WTF!?

Can't you just go with an E6300 or E6400. Both are widely available in retail boxes.
 
I just spoke with TigerDirect on the phone. They said that they have one lot of one thousand E6600 processors that are still scheduled to arrive today (Thursday 8/10), though they have not arrived yet (as of 12:45pm California-time). They also have more coming in tomorrow (Friday 8/11).
 
I'm running on a super old gfx card (geforce3 ti 200), waiting to upgrade my whole system, all hinged on getting my e6600 from BLT.

Come on BLT, dont let me down on 8/16/06.

I build a new machine once every five years or so. This thing's gotta last. I'm not saying that a 6400 won't last, but I really want that extra cache to tide me over till 2011. lol...
 
Even those prices are a bit high. I wonder if it means that newegg plans to drop their prices as soon as they get stock in, or if that ad just happened to be printed prior to them settling in on their current prices. I guess either way it's moot, unless the brochure includes a paper order form that can be filled out by hand.
