the *OFFICIAL* core 2 duo midnight release thread 2.0!!!

If i order from shopblt.com, it has real-time tracking of their incoming stock. Do the negative numbers mean how many people have ordered the incoming Core Duo 2s or they mean how many people ordered over the amount that is being shipped? Also, is mthere anyway to insure that I don't get one of the later shipments?

I received this email from Newegg.com. I will neither disclose my name, nor the name of the person I contacted, concerning the E6600. I'm kinda skating a thin line concerning rules on posting that, but I felt it was my duty to inform all of you other crazed people on these forums. Nevertheless, please don't quote or link to this.

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting Newegg.com.

Thank you for your inquiry. Please be advised this item will be available for purchase on 8/7/2006. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me personally.

So, Newegg will be selling Conroe on August 7th at the latest, if not earlier. But that's too long a wait for me, so I went to TigerDirect.
🙁 :disgust:
But, note to all of you, buy from Newegg.com whenever possible. They have really good customer support, which, for me, makes paying a few extra dollars per product worth it.

That's great news for me. I'm gonna lay in wait on that faithful day, then.

And here I was, thinking that July 27th would be the day...

Well you are not alone. We all were off by a month....should be Aug 27th.

I am having flashbacks to the release of the Playstation 2...

Just got conf that ZZF has shipped an E6300 to my friend. Apparently he ordered his yesterday when it was listed as "Pre-Order Will ship on Aug 7" he was shocked so am I.

I am still not in a hurry and will wait at least a month or so untill everything settls down. My 805 running at 4GHz is filling the bill for now.

🙂

Oh BTW:

The tracking number, it turns out, was for his Zalman 9500 LED cooler. His E6300 has NOT shipped.

Sorry for the mix up.

Could you supply a tracking number? My friend orderd the same yesterday and only his Zalman 9500 has shipped.

I'm uploading two images that will prove it shipped. I feel a little uneasy about posting the tracking number. I will edit this post with the links when they are uploaded.

Sweet, I totaly agree about submitting personal info. I have a friend who bought the E6300 yesterday and it has yet to ship so I was just curious.

No problem. Too bad I won't have a complete system for another couple weeks. My summer job doesn't pay enough. l

Even with an additional 2 weeks I bet you will have a working C2D system before the majority.

If anybody cares, Mwave has the E6400 in stock now, at a whopping $335. It's the processor I want, but not at that price 🙁

Yah, I think I can wait....

Anyway I will be waiting untill I can see the Abit AB9 Pro get a stable FSB speed of 400MHz+. I have high hopes for their next BIOS release. By that time the C2Ds will be everywhere and the price will be stable.

🙂

You guys have to understand that most of the actual online dealers don't even have the chips in hand yet, it'll be near August 4th so they can start shipping promptly on the 7th.

Ouch! Thats highway robbery. This thread kinda reminds me of when MS released Windows 95. How alot of people were camped out at the various retailers for the Midnight sale just so they could be the first to get the new O/S.

clubit states that they have them, and are only taking orders (pre-orders) for each processor they have in stock, so they can be sure everyone gets one and so forth

Thanks for the update but I'm not going to rush to pre-order when they are pricey and August 14th.

Prices seemed competetive with all the others listed and atleast they are retail boxes. I picked one up anyway. Probably regret it down the line but meh.

Demand could be so high that the people waiting end up getting gouged when they are actually in stock at limited quantities. I'm taking my chances with Monarch computer and just ordered the ASUS DH board with 2GB of Patriot PC2-8000 RAM. They're only about $20 over MSRP and I get a free copy of GRAW for buying their little combo deal. The motherboard was $20 below Newegg's price too and the RAM was the exact same price. I'm hoping to OC to 3.6Ghz on a E6600 running 9x400Mhz at 1:1 memory. Hopefully it will work out that way and be very sweet.

My Pentium D 920 at 4.01Ghz will make a nice HTPC/Folding@Home secondary box 😉. I can't wait to see the work units I can push through using two dual core systems.
