I pulled the trigger on an E6700 OEM today @ noon. It actually shows as shipped already.
Should be here by monday since UPS doesn't deliver on saturdays!

Has anyone ordered a "7-10 days" CPU from TigerDirect? If so, what time today, and how far has your order been processed?

I clicked buy at 9:20 AM PST. The link still said in stock. Transaction was completed @ 9:24 AM.

My order status page now says "Backordered, however we're doing physical inventory and your status may update in the next 24 hours"

I'm not holding my breath. The good news is, they don't bill my CC until it ships.

Btw, E6600.

Your confused. It's not higher then MSRP. It's higher then the price you'd pay direct from Intel if you bought 1000 units of OEM CPU's in trays.

It's also about $40 higher than it was priced at earlier, so either way it's high.

Regarding the Dell XPS 700 mentioned before:

Try to choose exactly the same components for XPS 700 and XPS 400.
The only different thing you'll not be able to match is 667MHz memory vs. 533MHz.

The price difference could be up to $2320 vs $1670!

When I called them and asked "why?", the answer was - because of the faster memory and a larger case. Yarright, faster memory costs $650 more :)

P.S. I didn't want to buy a system from Dell. Just decided to test their BS-ting sales practices.

Retail E6300's were never around $180. The best price was last night when ZZF had them for $199. (probably an error but it looks like they're honoring last night's price).

Hi, I'm new but I was up with you guys at midnight and at 3 PM EST for the definitive proof that I don't want to shop at TigerDirect.

Anyways, I was wondering what RAM you all think would work better with a heavily Overclocked E6600. I've built my own sub-zero system that should allow for a 450+ FSB. I'm using a P5W DH Deluxe but that and the CPU are the only thing I want to spend a lot on. I only want to spend $150 on RAM (the cheaper the better) but I can go upto $200. Will timings make a huge difference? Will it be a big performance difference to have PC2-8000 RAM running at 1:1 as opposed to PC2-6400 running at 5:4 with tighter timings? Also, if I can get a 1GB Dual Channel kit of PC2-8000 will it do a lot better at these speeds running 1:1 than say a 2GB kit of PC2-5400 running at 3:2? Any thoughts are appreciated, especially about 1GB fast VS 2GB slow.

And yes there were sites with them under $200 a couple evenings ago. Sorry you must have missed that chatter.

topic post:
-dell has their XPS 700 built to order with core 2 duos. all cpus are available.

no, they really aren't available. sure you can build it, but you won't be seeing it until around October. that's not what most people would call "available".

So, I'm less than thrilled with how TigerDirect is handling this mess... on the order status page, I get this:

Order Status: All Backordered - These items are currently on backorder, and will ship as soon as we receive stock on them. ( We are currently doing a physical inventory. Your order may temporarily show on backorder. Please allow 48 hours for your status to update. )

This is in stark contrast to what their customer service reps were telling us yesterday. I guess I could accept this as inevitable for those of us trying to get our hands ont echnology when the supply is still trickling out, but they BILLED MY CREDIT CARD yesterday afternoon. (I pulled the trigger yesterday right after 1 PM).

::mutters angrily:: Guess I'll stick with the 'Egg from now on.

I'm still holding out for ZZF or Newegg. I can't justify spending $360 for an OEM chip if I can get the retail box at ZZF for $339.

Or I maybe I should just run multiple OS's on the new Mac desktops on the 7th :D

I Bought mine here 2. I called the CS rep at TD yesterday. 1st the charge is just an authorization. The money shoud be back in your accound in 24-48 hrs if they havent shipped. The rep told me that they were getting a shipment in today of 150 E6600. At the time I was talking to them there were only 130 orders for them so they had 20 more to sell. He assured me that I would be getting my order shipped today or early next week. Hope that wasn't just a bunch a BS.

I was told the same thing when I ordered my E6700 last night.

My order comes up with the same thing too. If I don't receive a shipping notice by Monday I'm going to cancel the order.

Has any one spoken to TD recently?

I order my mines yesterday early afternoon est for the E6600 but still got backorder. There was some order that actually sold and went through. I called them today and they told me shipment were suppose to come in today and early August 8. He told me there was a VERY long list of E6600 orders, so I decided to cancel my order on the phone. I rather just wait it out now, I'm in no rush to get the OEM version.

I just put in an order at TigerDirect for an E6600 and a cheap fan so I could get warranty coverage.
I spoke with them over the phone, and they said that they have a "whole truckload" (direct quote) coming in tomorrow (Saturday, 7/29), and that my order will come from that shipment. Total for my order, including UPS 2-Day shipping, was $410.
