Today is the ETA for the chips at the following place:

http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/sho...=011003000509_BK12401P.shtml&ORDER_ID=

...thanks to their realtime availability thing, it should be possible to see if the chips do actually arrive today, which will probably be a good indicator of whether or not Intel really will be able to meet demand by getting their shipments out in a timely manner.

Also, some rumblings on the newegg front:

1. Back when the X6800 was listed, the estimated availability date showed as 8/4.

2. A few days ago, their engineers tweaked it so that searches for 'conroe' would take you to a page selling Marilyn Monroe posters.

3. Today, a search for 'conroe' is no longer shunted to the Marilyn Monroe page (instead you get a page for a HSF that says it is rated for conroe chips).

...so it seems like it's remotely possible that they turned off their Marilyn Monroe redirector in anticipation of making the real conroe pages live...remotely.

I don't think Shopblt is going to get the 6600's on the 4th. The 6400 there said they were gonna get them on the 2nd and now it's been pushed to the 25th. We'll see! :)

I have a 6400 on order with them, and The Synth, you beat me to it. When I saw that Shopblt pushed it back the other day, I ordered a cheap Celeron, so I could finish the system, and get it going.

I wouldn't believe anything you see on that website"realtime", yea right! I'm not saying it their fault, but Intel.

What a hype! Some of the people on various forums claim to have these chips, and others claim there being shipped as I type this. I don't believe anyone has them at all!

Yea, keep an eye on that - those dates will move to mid / late August. They are just using the inventory info from Ingram Micro - who, as mentioned just a few posts ago, is NOT getting any today.

I'm in a similar boat now - I have orders at *five* of the big distributors, and NOBODY has any yet. It's killing me!

I can't believe that Intel would screwup shipping these things that badly. To go from late July to late August is pretty bad especially when they aren't having trouble producing the chips. If the chips exist why can't they get them to retailers? I understand delaying to the 7th to prevent price gouging but what possible reason could they have for delaying until late August? I personally think that the chips will still be widely available on the 7th.

Just talked to a newegg rep. They are still saying 8/7, but it might be they haven't been notified yet. But just incase, I'm going to be refreshing the heck out of newegg on monday.

Hey guys, just pre-ordered C2D e6600 from shopblt.com w/ FedEx 3-day Express Saver, they still say their preorder shipment is only 300 preorders out of 1060 c2d chips they are getting.

i hope cuz they are a small site, not like NEWEGG, so hopefully ill be 301 to get their e6600, i just PRAY they arent delayed till 21st, my mobo is dying, i need the upgrade.

UPDATE!!

I just check back with ingram and spoke to someone who knows whats going on, here's the deal:

Newegg, alineware, CDW all get their stuff from Ingram Micro. Ingram IS IS IS getting some stock in today, but it is allready allocated to newegg and the big online resellers. so I would say that YES newegg and them will have SOME stock come monday!! BUT not much, however it will be 'ramping up' in the next few weeks and there will be a lot more in stock the next week and weeks following. if you order from a small time guy he will probably be low on the list and isnt getting this initial shipment, like BLT.

Overall, semi good news. for me, it sucks since I will be away next week camping and wont be able to grab one since I get no interent there!!! .......

He also spescifically mentioned tigerdirect..
He then went on to say that they are trying to get them to the 'gamers' as fast as possible, to get good reviews in.. interesting.

Just called back again to bug the guy, apparently PCClub.com is getting one of the initial batches, as well as newegg, CDW and pcmall...

WOW pcclub is $420... sucks!!!!! says 8-7 as a ship date and ingram said they are getting a first batch, so if you have money to burn and want one ASAP go with them.

FYI, dont bug the BLT people any more, they have gotten like 500 people calling them with requests. apparently they dont get all their stock from ingram, but their stock status page is a direct link to ingrams... okaeee..
Since ingram hadnt heard of them or mentioned them, I canceled with them and placed an order with Tigerdirect because they are one of the big guys who will be getting them first. just another heads up for everyone.

Man, this is getting so intense--everyone grasping at the same straws. I wonder what time Newegg will put up their Conroe order pages? Probably not before 9am Eastern on Monday, right?

I didnt hear that name mentioned, he kept saying newegg. Im like, ah you cant get any from them yet. he says, oh. ha
He did mention tiger a lot too, thats why I ordered with them. ZZF is big too, so I would imagine just not sure on the first batch.

Yup, thanks for the info. Now I have to decide whether to buy from PC Club at 420 or take my chances with newegg :(

well, im going with Tiger, they will get some soon, if not allready. you can at least backorder with tiger, unlike newegg.

I don't like the back-ordering, because there's generally no way to know exactly how many people are in front of you. I like newegg's apparent approach of "you can't buy them until we have them", because then at least if you manage to purchase one, you know you have it coming.

i just tried to cancel my BLT order, one of the salesman said "are you sure? you'll lose your place"

Then i told him the 411 on what we've been finding out here in the forums about Ingram Micro and such.

So we'll see what his reply back is. I did tell him "yeah keep my place in line, but just wanted to tell you why i wanted to cancel."

BLT responded:

"Hi,

I have no idea who gave you that information at Ingram Micro, but that
certainly was not conveyed during our call with our Intel rep earlier
today. Further, Ingram is not our only supplier.

We'll keep your order in place, per your request. Thank you for your
business and patience.

Best Regards,"

Just like ALPHAFOX said, they supposedly have multiple distributors, well I'll see about NewEgg on monday morning, and go from there.

wait and see time, ugh ive NEVER done this for a CPU before, bad timing i guess.
