Like the fact that the name "LePetomane" came from a Frenchman who was a professional farter (really!) in the late 1800's. And the whole Hedy/Hedley thing.

And remember when Mongo rides into town, and the peasant guy says "Mongo! Santa Maria!" before running off? Mongo Santamaria was the name of a famous musician in the mid 1900's.
The censors finally figured out what Lily's last name meant too.

Blazing Saddles is one of the best comedies ever made in my opinion, it's just a shame that we'll probably never see a movie with that style of humor again :(.

Mel Brooks is a genius. Blazing Saddles is just one of many of his masterpieces. It is certainly his most edgy movie though.

Don't forget the Indians (lol native Americans sounds so wrong in the context of this movie, sorry) speaking Yiddish.

Once you've had black, you never go back...

It is truly sad that movies like that would never be made today.

[the Governor is having trouble putting his pen back into its holder]
Hedley Lamarr: Think of your secretary...
[the pen goes straight in]
Governor William J. Le Petomane: Thank you. That's a good one.

Brooks' films are the best... until his last few... I can't even name the last few.

I would like to see a History of the World Part II, but I get the feeling that the "Jews in Space" scene wouldn't fly in today's world.

I love this movie and watch every time it's on. Even my two oldest boys watched it with me the last time and laughed their butts off.

'I hired you fellas to get some track laid, not to dance around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots!'

'My name is Jim, but people call me....Jim.'

Black Guy 1: Are we awake?
Black Guy 2: We're not sure. Are we black?
Black Guy 1: Yes, we are.
Black Guy 2: Then we're awake, but very puzzled.

'Horses!!! You idiot we can't afford to lose no horses. Send over a couple a *****'

It's amazing how different this movie is on cable and on DVD. I had watched it several times on cable before watching the DVD and missed a lot of the humor. The cable version is definitely better suited for kids though.

My mom wanted to see it, and took me and a friend to the drive in to watch it when it was released.
My friend had a fairly uptight mom, totally not like my mom. Here we are laughing our asses off watching the campfire scene while he is simultaneously embarrassed as hell in the presence of my mom. She knew it would get to him, and I'm sure she planned it that way:p
