You are no longer experiencing or never experiend negative effects

OR

You are experiencing negative effects and it's been less than 18 months since the procedure.

I had PRK so I'm not voting for now, even though I experienced some of those side effects.

I had negative effects that weren't covered. Mainly, after about 3 years my vision started regressing. I'm now at -1.75 in one and -1.25 in the other and it will be 6 years this Jan 1st since having it done. Still way way better than what I was originally at, but keep in mind that once you attain 20/20 you may regress. I wear light prescription glasses and contacts but plan on having an "enhancement" this year or the next.

I've had problems with itchy and/or dry eyes regularly since LASIK. I do have a lot of allergies though.

Not exactly a problem with LASIK, but my eyes actually got worse again (additional curvature due to sitting in front of a computer I guess) and now I wear glasses again :(

Because, you know, "view results" doesn't really work.

Still waiting for my eyes to settle, but I am dead set on Lasik or PRK. Aside from the remote chance of going blind, the worst case scenario for me is dry eye with poor night vision. Thus, I won't drive at night. If it doesn't get majorly fuxxored, I get a wad of career options I want opened up.

Either way, aside from going blind again, it's better than this shit life with glasses that don't give me any peripheral vision, get dirty and fog up. Not to mention dry eye inducing contacts I can't bear to insert early in the morning.

Which is why most places offer free lifetime "fixes" to keep you at 20/20 vision. What age were you when you got the procedure done?

I've decided that LASIK isn't for me. Even if I had no negative side effects and attained 20/20 or better acuity, I would still need reading glasses in about 12 years (when I hit 40). Fund my research and I'll make it so you don't need LASIK OR reading glasses. :p

I would never recommend enhancement to anyone. That's what ruined my left eye.

I had lasik 7 years ago and had 20/20 vision. I could get free enhancements for up to 2 years after the first surgery. Before that two years was almost up, I noticed that my left eye was regressing slightly, and had an enhancement. It thinned the cornea too much, and I now have bad astigmatism. I've been told that they would never do the second surgery now, as they've learned more about cornea thinning and the problems it causes.

I'm back to wearing glasses full time now, though they are 1/4 the thickness they used to be. Before the first surgery I wore contact lenses full time, but my eyes dry so fast now that I can only wear them for a few hours.

I've had an enhancement too. My eye doctor doesn't recommend another one. My cornea is too thin and there are diminishing returns on the surgery.

you only have so much cornea to work with before you run out. i think the cornea is something like 600 microns thick total, and the first and last 150 are not touched, so that's only 300 microns to work with. then for every diopter of correction, you need to take away 50 microns.

my optometrist(?) told me something roughly like that.

bar none the best money i ever spent. the decision to get the procedure was like a lightning bolt. Imagine, on spring break, getting ready for a foam party, and your contact lens tears in half. (astigmatic so no disposables for me at the time). Yes, i wore glasses to a foam party. Never Again.

I had Lasik done in Feb. 2007, no regrets at all. My vision wasn't too bad to begin with, but I was just so fed up with wearing glasses. I experienced moderately dry eyes for ~ 3 months, I was using Systane drops quite often. My surgeon was thinking of prescribing me Restasis (drops which stimulate tear production), but at my 6-month checkup, he told me my dry eye had basically cleared up completely.

Never had Lasik... Sounds pointless for me. I'll stay with glasses. :) They have no negative side effects. I am so used to my vision without glasses(I only wear them at school and when it's required at other times) that I can easily live with the blurriness. Lived with it my entire life thinking it was normal, until it got really bad.

I had custom LASIK 21 months ago. Was -5.25 in both eyes, and can now see 20/20. I still suffer from dry eye to this day, and probably will for the rest of my life. It is manageable however, although eye drops are expensive. I also experience light bleed on certain colors and LED text. Even after all that I'd still do it again, but be aware of the negatives. Also, make sure you factor in the cost of eye drops to your monthly budget.

I voted in a manner which I thought would best skew the polls since you did not provide an option for those who don't qualify for any answer (IE no LASIK at all).

I had it done around 2002, no "touch ups" yet. I didn't have any of the floater problem or flashing or whatever that people had... so i think im pretty lucky
