Partially due to this thread, a couple of months ago, I decided it was time for a change of my own. I've reduced my calorie intake a lot and mostly get my exercise from walking 10 minutes back and forth to class several times a day (Clemson is hilly country, too, so it's not just flat walking). I had to go to the health center to get my hand looked at a few weeks ago and they weighed me at 35 pounds less than I was just a couple of months ago. I've been meaning to modify my belt by adding a new hole to it because it's getting to be too long and my shorts refuse to stay where they belong. My $.02.

Down 25 lbs since end of june. I've been going to the gym 3 - 4 times a week average for about 1.5 - 2.0 hours. Using the elliptical virtually every day (it's a favorite), and then on to weights most days.

I missed all of this past week, due to being in class - but come Monday, it's back to the gym.

Thanks

Look at his chart: www.niddk.nih.gov/health/nutrit/pubs/images/healthyweight.gif to calculate your BMI.

IMO, BMI is not as important as your body fat % [Mark McGuire has a BMI of something like 35, defined as obese by U.S. gov't]. Here is a chart from Dr C. Everett Koops' website: www.shapeup.org/bodylab/basics/know3.asp that shows healthy body fat % for each age/sex group.

I've done ah heck all training and such for the past month or so. just been busy and I really can't be that assed to go and train anymore.

Started Uni and had lots of admin and things to do and I'm not as motivated to train after winning a few trophies and compeitions. I'm going to get myself back in to competing when things settle down a bit.

I do ride my bike to work though and walk.

Just not trained in a gym or such. I'm going to gym the Uni Rugby team and play Rugby again though. That'll be great for cardio. Will have to hit the gym to carve out a betteer physique though:D. Girls notice my phsique already, but as in American phycho you can always be thinner and fitter:D

My biggest problem is trying to eat healthy. What does everyone here eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner? I go to the gym 3 times a week, and that seems to be helping a little, but I think my poor eating habits counteract the gym. I don't eat McDonalds or BK, but I do eat out with friends a lot. I eat lots of chicken (chicken parm is my fave, which I know is bad, but I have no willpower, lol).

I didn't realize how poorly I was eating until I had taken a Nutrition class. %90 of prepared food is garbage (soft drinks, snacks, fast foods, etc). Try to limit how often you eat out, when you do choose carefully. You want to limit your intake of processed sugars & fats, which is incrediblely hard to do.

My routine goes like this:

Morning - Oatmeal (not instant & w/o adding sugar) or a bowl of Rice Crispex (which doesn't have much added sugar - 3g) & maybe a banana if theres one in the house

Lunch - Tuna sandwich (Tuna packed in water) on whole wheat bread with a salad w/ a little bit lowfat/nofat dressing

Dinner - Usually some kinda chicken dish with veggies and bread

As for soda, I've replaced Dr. Pepper with Tea that has little added sugar (forgive me Mweeps:(;))

Hehe...check out some of my training data I uploaded here and there in this thread from my heart rate monitor. There are a few rides where I cracked 190 bpm here and there. Not fun indeed. :p
