1.4 @ 1.69; I can get it up to 170 MHz but computer won't shutdown properly, seems happy at 1.69
ASUS A7V333
FSB 160
Crucial PC2100 2x256 MB

Q: I did a Sandra memory test and only got about 2200 @ 166 FSB, when I did the 133 FSB I got 1950, I checked some reviews with the new Athlons and o/c Athlons w/166 FSB and they get 2600-2700. Any ideas on why I'm not getting the full bandwidth?

TIA

Edit: N/M figured it out myself, they were using dual channel *doh!*

Have a question for ya'll:]

I've been reading about the arioa & agoia and I have a
aroia. This is what I have

ax1600dmt3c
aroia0221mpmw
91121880018

This is not a "y" step (what does that mean anyways?),
so can anyone tell me what step this chip is? does anyone have
this type of chip and have they had any luck o/c it? Am I just
doomed to not being able to o/c this chip? Is unlocking it
the only way to o/c?

Thanks for any info!

Thanks for the info ScrapSilicon. However, I don't really understand your post.

You say you think you have or had an XP 1800+ running at 134x13? Wouldn't that be 1.74ghz? Who is Martrox?

I think I'm just going to sell my new OEM XP 1600+ ARNGA and just buy from someplace that specifically sells the chip I want.

Even though it's not a "Y" it's a week 21 which should make it from a good yielding batch and hence a good overclocker, I haven't seen many XP 1600+ dates as late as your's so that should be a good thing, now give it a go and see what that baby will do ;) and don't forget to post back with results! :D

Anyone else out there have a CPU that they don't know about? Just send it to Dapunisher and let him run it.
I'm confident he'll tell you how great it was performing right up to the instant that it detonated.
Yes, we've been known to loose a few on the Launch Pad.

I got a 1700+ AGOIA chip thats green on an 8K5A2+. I hit 1.63 on the retail heatsink, but it wasn't very stable. I'm gonna wait for my AX-7 to get here to see what this baby can really do.:) By the way, Bithlo is trash, and Jimbo from real radio is pretty funny.;)

ok i dont know what stepping my XP 1900+ is, and i dont care really just now but ive just oc it to a 2000+ , it is alright to do that, fsb from 133 to 139Mhz giving me 1668 - using:
gigabyte 7VRXP rev2
256Mb 2100 Ram
300W

questions are is it safe for this oc? i mean obviously the PCI divider hasnt kicked in (if there is one) but this wont cause hard disk corruption will it?

2nd ques: im gonna change from my 300W generic to a 400W - im doing this in the interest of the future when devices are gonna be power hungry - good decision (no i cant get an Enermax or Antec, generic it is!)

thanks for the help!

Ok, since nobody replied on my post about problems with unlocking, I decided to go permanent way- removed all the silverpaint , and cut L4 bridges and connected what needs to be for 12.5 multiplier (I run - GA-7VRXP - so no 1/5 for me), up and running at 12.5x140=1750.
It is AROIA Y chip 12th week, green, from Newegg. It can go to 12.5x145=1812 but Prime95 starts to give fits and RAID occasionally craps out, so it is not practical to run...

hope that helps in ur quest for o/c glory!

EDIT: 4th edit, i was doing the link as secure link :disgust:

ok, I admit I know about that divider thing- but it is only in f11 version of bios, and I am using f7, cause it is available with hacked full raid, so that I can use two raid setups with the stripe size of my choice. Even with divider, I dont think that my memory would let me go much higher than 140- Kingston PC2100. Also all that talk about having to boot first at 155, than again at 170, doesnt seem like the kind of thing I want to do with my computer...

I need to buy a AthlonXP 1600+ AROIA Y, or AGOIA Y within' a week (preferably by this Tuesday) and I need to know where I can get one, where they guarentee AGOIA Y or AROIA Y stepping. I heard newegg were guarenteeing AGOIA Y's, but then they stopped about a week ago. Can someone send me the url to a site that will definitely guarentee me a good stepping 1600+ that will hit atleast 1800mhz?
(i plan on using a SLK800 w/ Thermaltake SilentSmart fan, so I should be able to handle up to like 2GHz w/ a 58ºC max load)

gameve
they have agoia steppings, but there's never any guarantees with overclocking. most of these agoias have been hitting 1.8 with good cooling, memory, etc...good luck.

I have one of these... but for some reason, I lost one of my traces.....

So if I go to 12.5 x 139.... I used to get 2100+ post, but now I get 2000+ post... meaning 12.0 x 139

When I change it to 11.5, I get 1800+ post which means I got 11.0 x 139... not .5.

So does anyone know which trace gives the .5 ????

I really don't want to do the whole thing over again.... one is enough.

Thx....

Go to the interactive painting guide to see the difference between 12 and 12.5. You'll see that if one trace goes undone it is not likely to shift from 12.5 to 12, it just wont boot at anything other that default, at least from my experience. To get 12.5 for more than a week, I had to do cutting of the lower two L4 traces and connecting the higher 2 with the pencil.

I recently bought 4 of the 1600+ CPUs from Newegg. Two were green and two a week later were brown.

I OC'd a green to 1.75GHz but had to bump the voltage to 1.85 for stability.

Tonight I tried a brown and that hit 1.75GHz at default voltage. :)

Green:
AX1600DMT3C
AGOIA 0213BPGW
Y804.......

Brown:
AX1600DMT3C
AGOIA 0213SPOW
Y804.......

Mines is green does 1.75 at default voltage, dont think color matters, there is no architectural diff in those CPU's all that was is a color change to match AMD's logo...

BIOS won't let you clock your CPU?? Can you define that??

If you don't wanna unlock your CPU, the only way you can o/c it is through FSB.

AGOIA 'Y' Week 11

Currently running at 1.75 (locked). Sadly, I had to disable the "top performance" option on my GA-VAXP. It just wouldn't boot with it enabled. Oh well. At least I can use slightly more aggressive memory timings with that option disabled.

Get the cheapest, not worth paying premium for a outdated chip, hoping it would overclock. If perfomance is of importance get a more expensive faster chip.
