I made some chicken curry last night for the first time, and it failed at being spicy. It called for curry powder, all I had was krogers mild curry powder, so I headed to the store and got one that was labeled as hot(yellow), it was not. Maybe I need to use a paste from the specialty isle?

IIRTRC -

cut up onion, saute in oil, then add 2 tsp of curry powder, cook some, add cubed chicken, can of coconut milk, tomato, 2T of tomato paste, then later after chicken cooked add 4 packed cups of spinach. Probably forgetting some but that was the gist.

anyone got some pointers, it's tasty food but doesn't have the spice I like.
