Happy 4th!!!
I'm fortunate and a few friends are taking me to the top of a 32-story building in downtown jacksonville (fl) to watch the fireworks!
I hope it doesn't rain :D

The weather guys were saying that there's a potential threat for rain here where I am in Indiana this evening, and it was looking like it might follow through a little bit ago, but now the sky seems to have cleared off and the sun is out again.

I was going to go into town and attempt some fireworks photography (living 6 miles away in a rural area surrounded by trees and lacking a long zoom for my SLR pretty much kills my chances here), but I might be lazy and just stay home, do a bit of programming, then a little neffing, and then perhaps go to bed early *gasp* (yes, I'm that bored tonight).

I hope you all have a good 4th, I spent 9 hours of mine unloading straw bales off of racks in the 95º+ heat and high humidity along with direct sunlight. Hard work, I'm sure some of you have done it before.

Interesting Smokeball :)
I got about 1/2 way through it & got the idea;) ,it still doesn't tell me much about the background to it or what happened shortly after though.

Btw with all the talk over here of joining the EU I've oftened joked that we should become the 53rd state of US & adopt the $ not the Euro;) (we'd be re-united again that way ,hehehe:D)

Sky is clear in the South Bend area. They said that it would be raining tonight but some came through this morning and it has been clear skies since. Hope it holds off tomorrow too because I have to work.

Heh, I sat around and was lazy today (aside from doing my little "job" of driving a few miles to check on and care for a friend's dogs while he's on vacation).

Congrats on staying on the horse. :)

My aunt has horses, and while I think they're great animals, they're quite a lot of work (much more so than a dog, which is plenty to keep me busy).

Edit: No rain yet, but I've seen a little lightning.

Edit again: Damn, it looks like there will be storms tomorrow night. That sucks, because I'm showing my dog in an obedience trial then. :(

Didn't do anything much, spent the day around the house going through some old papers. MrFluffy and his girlfriend came over for dinner, then they went out to see the fireworks, but they were cancelled due to thunderstorms and high winds. So we watched the Boston fireworks on TV. Played a few Brutal games of Command and Conquer: Generals.

:D

There are lots of "reservations" here in the northwest, we got some good FW's and had a mostly safe & sane evening.

I burned my hand on the BBQ when I spilled some water in there and got the back of my hand too close to the resulting steam, but the steak, salmon & prawns still turned out good. We have enough leftovers to supply a small army here!

One bad firework was this thing that looks like a helicopter, it's made by "Black Cat" and the center part shoots out like a bullet. It caused an injury to one of the kids that were standing around watching. The kid that had the helicopter had two of them, the second was immediately confiscated and later set off by the adults with no children present. It also acted in an uncontrolled manner.
We also had a not quite stellar experience with the "Black Cat" brand artillery this year. The tubes came apart after about 3 shots, we would not recommend this brand to anyone, we will not buy them again.
The "Garden Mash" cake was great, by far the best thing we got this year.

The injuries were few and not too terrible, not bad enough to need medical care. Most were cooking mistakes and not firework related.
Too much food & beer for the adults and too much fun & games for the kids, all in all very enjoyable. ;)

Now to see T-3 today!!!

Mmm, I'd love a T3... much faster and better than dialup, but unfortunately also much more expensive than dialup. ;)

I didn't do too much on the 4th. Went to see fireworks in another town about half an hour away with my ex girlfriend. Set off a few fireworks of our own.

Went to see T-3 today as well!

My friend bought one of those Black Cat Artillery launcher things and had no problems at all with his tube

Hi Assimilator1.
The King of England wanted the Colonists to drink tea but the Colonists wanted to drink
beer.
The King didnt want a bunch of drunks running around America.
So the Colonists said we quit England, we are now Americans.
Well everybody got hacked off and a scuffle broke out.
Then someone yelled "Quit shouting" and the scufflers thought they heard "Start shooting".
Then after a battle here and a battle there.
The King said "Enough" America is too far away, look at all the miles the Admiral is putting on my Beautiful Ships.
So everyone made peace until a while later the King sent his ships and Army back to America and they burned down the Capital.
What actually happened was after the English Army marched into the Capital they were thirsty and all they could find was beer.
Well after the English and the now Americans had a few brews together they got all weepy eyed and hugged each other, went into the Capitol building and partyd hardy late into the night.
Thats when the lamp got accidentally knocked over and Whooosh!!! no more Capitol.
When President Washington found out about the fire you can guess who was blamed.
So you Chaps across the big pond can celebrate with us officially.

Regards and Cheers.

LOL! @ winr! :D

We didn't do anything much, rained off an on, so we broiled the marinated chicken inside. MrFluffy and his G/F went to see the local fireworks display, but they were rained out by a big thunderstorm, so they came back here and waited until it blew over.

it was nice just to spend it with family. :)
