The office Christmas (holiday?) party!

Aside from our bonuses, we had a raffle for everyone that showed up. I got lucky and walked away with a 1.75 of Crown Royal. Score!

Time to find some mixers 😀😀

Christmas bonus? What's that? In over 35 years of working, the closest I've ever gotten to a bonus, is a dead turkey or ham, and a day's pay...That being said, I made good money during the year, and never did get the concept of a Christmas bonus. Do you give the company any kind of Christmas gift? If not, why do you expect to get one?
Now a performance bonus at the end of the year, if the company has done well I understand, or a production bonus, if your crew/department has exceeded it's goals...those make sense...

A Christmas bonus is just a regular end of the year performance bonus, because they both happen at the same time I thought.

Um, ok. I'll still take it either way 🙂 Who cares how you want to classify it, it's more money in my pocket.

you sound bitter from all the years of not experiencing a nice christmas bonus lol.

I've gotten a $300 one year, and $4000 the next.

that was w/ my old company, the one I work for now has quarterly bonuses so no real xmas bonus.

Working in construction, we don't get salaried and spend our time trying to avoid work at the water cooler. Being paid for the job and not by the hour means we work as fast as we can so we can go home at noon instead of 4 or 5. And yes I did give the company a christmas gift, I busted my ass for them all year, got more work done than I was required to do (granted I was doing extra so I could make more money for myself) and in doing so made the owner a boatload more profit.

EDIT: you should just change your post to "Bah, humbug"

Now that's what I'm talking about 😀

Awesome haul!

Well, I've worked heavy construction for over 35 years, so I can relate to some of your comments, but being union, I get paid by the hour, instead of by the job. I have worked a few jobs where we got excellent production bonuses, and/or early completion bonuses, but they almost never had anything to do with Christmas, and rarely happened during this season.
Bitter? Nah, I make GREAT money in the trades, (last job..was about $37.50/hour PLUS benefits) and never figured the company owed me any more than a day's pay, for a day's work...I always liked to think they got more than their money's worth out of me...I believed in high production, low down time. Wanna fvck off? Go do it on someone elses crew...or some other job, because if there's work to be done, you ain't gonna do it here...
Anyway, Merry and Happy to all who celebrate this holiday...and may any & all X-mas bonuses be tax-free...😉

It encourages people to work hard and keeps their spirits up. I guess you could call it a performance bonus. It is called a christmas bonus because lots of people like to buy gifts for their friends and family and the bonus helps.

$15 girft card to Blockbuster
Movie stuff like popcorn, etc (I won a door prize)
Company shirt

My company isn't big on bonuses.

So does the threat of losing their jobs due to poor spirits and lazy work ethics. 😉

I kinda thought the same thing. Other than your weekly paycheck, how much incentive do you need to work hard?

All you need to do is remember the ATOT mantra: "I'm entitled."

Nice work spirit there, Boomer! 😀

I have the same spirit, and worked two months in the pepper business 🙂P).. Too bad bad backs run in the family (my dad is on his way to hernia number six) and moving 50 pound crates all day isn't really good for your back 😛.
Anyway, we share ways of thinking, and I hope to meet more people with the same thought.

Merry Christmas and excuse the poor English as I'm very drunk even though it's only 13:08 over here.

I've never gotten a end-of-year bonus at any of my jobs (though I get a raise every few months)...works for me.

Wow, some people think bonuses are "standard". I'd love to live in your golden cloud. I'm in a corporate IT environment and the only bonuses I get are a $10 target gift card for my birthday and the same for christmas. So I guess I got ten dollars?
