The NY Post is just pitiless . . . I like it

It's been pointed out by others that something like 90 pct of media in the U.S. are controlled by around six corporations.

I don't care what Murdoch's motivation is. Take it for granted that he's a PoS. What matters is if the Fox News primetime lineup is going to support Trump in 2024 or not. I [personally think they will, that this falling out is temporary,. But if it does actually hold, there's a good chance Trump loses to DeSantis in the GOP primary.

Which would be great news for the country. Because if that happens, it is all but certain that : 1) Trump will declare that the primary was rigged, 2) Trump will run as either an independent or third party, and 3) the democrats will win, keeping the fascist party out of power for another term.

He did not help its finances. It is widely believed to be a huge money loser; Murdoch keeps it to wield political influence.

edit to add a semicolon as of course it’s important to let people know I went to college.

I thought I remembered someone famous saying something like "a semi-colon is a comma with a college education" but google shows no such quote; I must have made that up myself.

Hmm, so it was Kurt Vonnegut, and the full quote would be called 'transphobic' these days.

"First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college.

I agree with Kurt. I also endorse the boycott of "too". I refuse to use either one as I don't need constant reminders of my less than stellar education.
Related topic. Anyone remember when "whole language" was thought to be the best method of teaching English?

I like my semicolons; I use them all the time. I think I might rather enjoy being a hermaphrodite; when people told me to go f' myself, I'd be like, "good idea."

What do a divorce at the north pole and a semicolon have in common?
- They both separate two clauses
The clauses have to be independent; if one clause is dependent, use a comma instead. I tend to write run-on sentences; semicolons legitimize my bad behavior.

I've found that is a relatively easy habit to break. Whenever I write anyone formal, when proofreading I ask myself at every comma or semicolon if replacing that with a period will make the writing clearer. Sometimes a brief amount of rewriting is required.
